Default Holy Horrible CHLORO Batman...!!!!

Im astonished at how fast the ocean turned over this week..

How can the Chloro go from this:

Then only 2 days later go to .... this:

The above images have been altered to remove any navigational info, just like the free images....

No wonder the fishing was slow on sunday.....

Seein the same thing off Charleston, just not that bad. I think the blow on Saturday stirred things up. W/ a lot of luck, the nice weather may help bring back good conditions fast.

On a heavy wind wave day with lots of sheep, it will show up as horrible Chloro shots due to the ability to see into the water. So take it with a grain of salt and compare what kind of day it was out there with the images.

Mark,

I agree, something is not right with that shot. And those fish did not move out over night from Saturday to Sunday morning.

Maybe wrong here but this is what I've noticed out of Garibaldi:
Thursday & Friday - Great numbers being hit
Saturday - Numbers of fish per baot decent but about half of the 2 previuos days. Fish bellys that were checked were full.
Sunday - 0 to 5 fish per boat. Fish were full again.

Pretty much the same areas fished with the same color waters and temps.

Tuesday - Fish are being hit in same ares in decent #'s

Just a thought here but could the fish have just gotten full and gone off the bite for a couple of days???

The fish were full of what? If it was squid then they are most likely still on the feed because they get the squid deep. If it was baitfish then my guess is that they are wherever the baitfish are.

On the central coast the north wind often messes up the fishing for a few days.

Large bait fish is what was reported.

The bellies Saturday had what looked like football shaped fish. I am not an expert in bait fish ID, especially after it is partially digested. But they looked a bit like chinook with the shoulders they had. Not your long skinny type of bait fish.

Probably 3 inches long and the diameter of a green label herring.

Not a squid to be seen in the bellies.

The few we got on Sunday were chalked full of 10"-12" sardines and little sauries.

Roy, I would guess you had sardines too.

Treb had them hiding by his boat Saturday trying to get away from the tuna.

Well... I spent a long day on the pond today, hoping to disprove that chloro shot.. It wasnt too far off..

i took this pic on the way out. (46.28x124.50) a very brownish water color. It was like this for about 20 miles... and not until 60+ miles was the first hint of blueish water.. never found much good color out there, and only barely hit double digit fish 60-70 miles out spending a long day to scrtch those up

Wow, thanks for the report.
Were those numbers posted above where you took the picture, or where you started to hit fish? That's quite a run from Westport, only 37ish NM off the CR? Good to hear there were still biters out there somewhere! We'll give it a go Fri/Sat off the CR.

At least the water conditions (wind and swell) behaved, looks like you had a nice ride, even if it was long.

the pic was at the numbers i posted. Full on Plankton bloom out there, i didnt find any fish until 125.10 line, water only had a hint of blueish, nice temp of 60 degrees. fished a LOOONNNGG time and only scratched out 11.. lost 4 others. I fished out to 125.22 with still only off color water.

Water was nice from 20-45 out. then about 50-60 seemed to be a whole different ocean.... windy and actually quite unpleasant.. then in closer it calmed down again.

Yea, we ran west of CR out to 125 10 to 125 20 and never saw blue water. Even chugging along Tuesday night, our prop wash glowed!
