Default What way is the right way to retire a boat??

Now my uncle was telling me the other day about how he's thinking of just stripping his boat of anything and everything that good left on the boat and then burning it. Any suggestions? But let me warn you before you say give it to a club this boat is extermaly old and warn out. It would take a lot of time and money just to make it sea worthy again. not exacly a boat you would want to give to charity. Any ideas would be appreceated it would be a wast to just abandon a boat like this it has been in the family for many years now and the sad thing is no one wants it any more.Any one have a idea what to do? Because I dont.

Don't burn a glass boat. It will put out bad things into the air.

I know its wrong to burn glass boats and we've done it before. Its not that I aprove of this idea I just need a better one to give to my uncle so he won't burn it.

Cut it up with a chain saw and take it to the dump.

You should even need to cut it up if you take it to the dump. Any good teak wood left on it????

It's an almost 40 year old wood dory with a fiberglass shell,
There ain't no teak on *that* baby!! (built in the early '60s)

That was SharkBaits' grand-dads boat. Hard to see it go, but it's
had a long life and has been neglected for years.

I know of a couple instances where a old boat was donated to te Coast Guard.
The Coast Guard would use them for practice fire drills and then blow holes in them and let them sink.
Who knows; you may get a deduction out of it.

Make your own secret fishing spot, turn it into a reef!

Fill with dirt and plant something - put it up on a couple of blocks and it becomesa raised bed, no bending to pull weeds. Sell it to some motel that needs a little local "color".

Give it to Father Joe and write off it's value on you tax return. It must be worth a couple of Million just in sentimental value!

The dump will take it whole for a fee.

You could let her loose out of Hammond on a heavy outgoing and see what happens!
