Going to Diamond Lake... :)
I'm bringing my fly rod, although my Dad is very used to fishing from a boat and using bait techniques, we have enough fly rods for all, and he's pretty good with a fly rod, too!
So, can you tell me, beginning with what kind of line I should have, how to fish Diamond Lake lately, and where?
I mean I am not at all used to this, so I need to have baby directions. You may PM me if it's important to do so! Thank you!
I love to fish the South End in the evenings for flys and come back at dark.

Oh yeah! And also, is there any other surrounding places that are fun that we should drive to?

Crater Lake is about 30 minutes away from Diamond Lake and is one of the most beautiful spots in Oregon.
Beware of bugs at DL.

I fished lost lake a few weeks ago which is kinda close to diamond if there anything alike you will want a boat because there is not alot of open spots to throw the fly around...Maby just try the good ol wooley bugger or wooley worm. top water flies too, theres tons of bugs..Bring bug spray! Good luck

Re: Going to Diamond Lake... :)
Here's what I have say... I have been there 5 times, 3 fishermen, 3 full limits. Still Fish, South End in the middle 26 to 32 ft. Bring 2 anchors. Stay out of the weeds. Tackle: 6 lb. main, 2 lb. leaders: 2 1/2 to 3 foot, little trebles, egg sinkers. Bait: Powerbait - charteuse, rainbow blended with either krill or GARLIC. Good morning bites, keep moving but stay in that general area, be patient, if the wind comes up have you back against it, try to leave the rod alone, keep a tight line, let the fish bite and go....my favorite eat is fillet and skin, cut the rib bones out, cut strips into finger sized, dip in egg batter, use half panko and seasoned bread crumbs, fry in medium heat in butter, have dipping sauces ready! Have a good time there, bring insect repellent. Look for diamonds on the lake!

The problem with Diamond Lake: I drive south on I-5, take the Roseburg exit and drive up the Crater Lake Highway. Never make it past the North Umpqua fly water! Why fish Diamond Lake when I can fish for steelhead in the North Umpqua?
