Default Charleston Thoughts

My dad and I are debating making a run from charleston for TUNA next weekend. I have mixed reports, but at least one solid report from last week of seven fish 33 miles out.

This is gonna be a 8 hour drive for me (Bay area) each way. Now don't get me wrong, it will be worth every bit of time on the road, but we need some very encouraging reports to make it happen. I haven't gone all summer, and I am fearful that this is gonna be one of the very few shots I'll get til mid september, and I don't wanna miss out.

Any info on some OTC prefishing, would settle nerves, because trips can always be cancelled last minute. We will probably try to fish w/ the tourney if this trip happens.

I gots the itch bad, and just need y'all to talk us into it!

Thanks,
Alex

I'm looking at friday and will be watching the weather, sst and chloro charts to make up my mind. One fact is that it can flat BLOW IN CHARLESTON. I'd be fishing there tomorrow if it wasnt for the wind right now.

Magicseaweed and Wetsands think it will settle down beginning on Thursday and the swell will switch to out of the south at 13 seconds. Who knows what the wind will do but with a 2-3 ft swell we will fish if the prediction holds. True, the wind is the thing to watch. I will fish Friday and probably Thursday as well. The deadline for registration for the OTC is tomorrow at midnight, so if you think you will fish the tourney, don't forget to register.

Today we had fish; lots of fish. See other post re: Charleston. Yes, we also had a little wind; it was blowing 20 kts. when we came in.

We are also watching the weather and SST but if every thing holds, we will drive up from San Jose Thursday and hope to fish Friday and Saturday.
