Re: First Blood on the SeaLion
14 lb, I hope Ray is not confusing it with a big trout.
Congrats on the first blood.

Re: First Blood on the SeaLion
I DID! I DID BAG THE ELUSIVE SPRING CHINOOK!
First blood on The Sea Lion, it was beautiful. Caught a nice chrome bright hen that was missing the appropriate fin! Bonk bonk, go to your room!
It was so fun I can't wait to do it again. I even mastered anchoring by my self. I love my 2nd helm. With a little practice I'll be able to hit a slot in a hog line.
Back to the fish, we estimated it to be about 14#. My rod went down and my partner said fish fish! I looked and it started peeling line then I said, Now it's a fish! It peeled line off my reel and bolted for the surface. Its dorsal fin and tail burning up the water like an Orca feeding on Seal Pups. Then it dove back down and when it came up it came clean out of the water tail and all! Then it did it again. The way it was fighting I figured it was a native fish but when we got it to the net I was surprised to see it was clipped. The fish checker took the nose because it had a tag. I filled out the card and they are going to send me the info on the fish.
What a great day on the river. Used less than $11 in fuel too. I love my C-Dory.
The pic is at G.I. Joes with me wearing my Team Pilar T-Shirt and holding the fish in front of my boat . I think their scale must have been light or that nose and scales that the gamies took weighed about 3.5 pounds
It sure was a great day on the river. I'll post a pic that RainorShine took after I finish all the chores... Flush the motors, fillette the fish, clean up, clean the boat, etc...
RainorShine was pretty good company, I'd take him again now that he understands the finer points of trailer winch operation . He did a great job netting that fish.

Re: First Blood on the SeaLion
And that's my Salty Dog hat and my Team Pilar shirt. The fish shecker only saw a couple of fish at the ramp today. We were late taking out and I had one of them. I'd rather be lucky than good . I sure like my lucky duds and my lucky boat  .

Re: First Blood on the SeaLion
Yes I flush the motors at home and run the gas out of the carbs. I figure it is better to do it at home than tie up the ramp when everybody is trying to load and go home.

Congrats Ray!
Looks like the Sea Lion is gonna be a lucky fish machine. You must have gone West young man if flushing was in order.
