Re: subject changed as per admin request ...
We've considered it, but by the time I hire a lawyer, take time off
work and all the rest ... is 2K worth it? I'm still thinking about
small claims court.
Anybody know what the upper limit for small claims is?

Re: subject changed as per admin request ...
Hi Mark, sorry for the unhappy outcome. What surprizes me is that this would happen with an outfit that up until now has had a real good reputation. An friend of mine had a $1+ million boat built by Wahl and had nothing but good things to say about them. One would think that if their reputation was really that good, that they'd be willing to work with you & come to a mutually satisfactory agreement. If they are not, then I guess they don't think one botched transaction will hurt their future business. How wrong they would be.

Re: subject changed as per admin request ...
What a crock! I'd talk to an attorney. You have some proof right here on Ifish because you've been posting the progress since the beginning. You could also get some other quotes and opinions from their competition to see if they were gouging you or not. That would make good information for a court case.
If you want to give out their phone number I'd be glad to give them an earfull on your behalf.
If they build million dollar boats then settling on a couple thousand dollars should be a no brainer. They'll lose 10 fold that much business just off the bad press their going to get from this board.

corriod:
the phone number is: 541-336-4736. As long as I don't get
sued on top of all the other B.S. that I've had to put up with,
it might not be a BAD thing ...

Re: subject changed as per admin request ...
I'm no attorney but I would say you have a case.
Did you take any pictures of your boat just before the work was done? Do you have receipts for the work and materials? I would go after repairs to the paint that they damaged in addition to recovering costs for legal fees, survey, etc.
I would also pay a marine surveyor to check the work that they did and document it as to quality and completion. This will answer your question regarding how many layers of what were used and then some.
Businesses that treat customers like this one did you deserve to have the big stick inserted in the appropriate place. Can you say slivers? I wouldn't hesitate. I wouldn't ask them again at this point. The work is questionable and they already damaged your boat in the process. Document the findings and take it to them. I am almost certain that small claims can be utilized for any sum up to $5000. Surveys cost $10 to $15 per foot (when I was looking to get one done before I bought a boat) Engine and outdrive analysis is extra, on top of that.
Put together the facts, gather data and get what you and they deserve.
Good luck dude, we're all behind you.

Now, I'm Convinced I'm in good company here! The dead is the music of choice for all bar crossings for me, kinda like Robert Duvall in Apocalypse Now, it kinda sets the mood.

Re: subject changed as per admin request ...
Well, last week on Monday Bud from the Toledo facility called me and talked
to me for a little bit, asked me what I wanted to make me happy and then told
me he would call me back after talking to the head painter (again). It's been
over a week and I still haven't heard back from him! So today I contacted
the BBB and filed a complaint on-line. Don't know if it'll do any good, but
there you have it! It just irks me that they think I should roll over on
these unreasonable over-charges!!

Re: subject changed as per admin request ...
Mark,
good luck with that -- what a pain. They are hoping you just go away, good for you that you aren't.
Thanks for giving us the tour Saturday...a beautiful boat to be sure. I'll be thinking about you when you go blasting by us on the way to tuna water -- "dang him"
see you soon.

Re: subject changed as per admin request ...
Kenai, my current favorite is 'Die Walkure' from the scene in the classic movie you mentioned.
Dead tunes .... 'Lady with a fan' or 'I know you rider' (China cat) works for me.

Re: subject changed as per admin request ...
Pilar....funny you should have revived that in this thread about bar crossing music. I just told Julie the other nite on the boat that I would like to have the soundtrack from the Perfect Storm to play on departure! If I can't find it, I'm going to master it off of the DVD to CD. I think that it is really awesome. Couldn't have anything to do with watching it 20 times

Re: subject changed as per admin request ...
Popeye.... I'd imagine that you could actually hear the music in your boat. In mine, it's hard to hear anything over the Whooooo hoooos of the crew or the roar of the engine.
I've seen that 'Perfect storm' just once. I'll rent it and watch it again.
