Default Carry a dinghy?

Anyone toss a dinghy on top when out deep for tuna, halibut or salmon? I've got an 8' Zodiac that I plan to inflate and put up on the hardtop when I go out. It'll hold 3 people in a pinch.

Pitch,

I have been thinking about that too, seems like a good idea! I wonder if they sell specific quick release mounting systems?

Roger, I've got a 4 hp yamaha kicker that I bought specifically for the dinghy, but it's too darn big and heavy to store on the boat or move around. I'm figuring that I will just row the thing.

Master B, I haven't heard of it, but if you do, let me know. Now I just put it on the cabin and use simple tie downs. It doesn't take much to hold it down. I hope I'll have enought time to unhook it in an emergency!

One of the sobering aspects of tuna fishing is the realization that your VHF is usually well out of range of land.

Yep, I've got a little zodiac that I figure on taking along. I plan to store a ditch-bag in it too. I have a motor, but won't take it. It's a floatation device to get folks out of the water until help can get there, not something to motor them home.
