Ocean Condition---When Are You Going?

I can't stand it any longer.......Each day I look at the marine weather forcasts and it looks dreadful out there. But, then you view the online web-cams and it doesn't look so bad, especially the southern coast. I need to get out there and catch fish! When do you Salty Dogs plan on fishing? Did anyone fish today? Have the commercial boats ventured out?

Hiya deepline....there was a big swell running at Newport this weekend. Every time I looked out at the jetty, the bar was breaking all the way across, or most of the way across. I didn't see one single boat going in or out; just one 60 - 80 ft vessel going slowly down the coast. There was lots of flat weather this "winter"; finally we are in a storm pattern so we'll just have to be patient.

I am heading over Saturday, early and gonna give it a try.... I can't take it any longer!!!!!!!

I am going crazy. My pal and I ended up eating oyster's, shrimp and smoked salmon this weekend just to stop the craving for a little bit. Didn't work we are going for broke on the weekend

I'm heading down to Charleston Thursday afternoon. If the swells get down to 10 feet by Friday I'm going out. I will be down there for 10 days, I'm just hoping the weather will cooperate, last year at this time, the ocean was like a lake, but I fear it is a little angry right now. I guess there is no way to tell, just get down there and wait it out, Deepline

You are not alone brother Deepline. We would all love to hit the salt right now, but with the Oregon coast you've got to pick your battles.

I wanted to go out *last* weekend for the commercial salmon opener,
but the weather wasn't right. I now want to go out this coming
weekend, but the long range forcast shows the weather being wrong
again!

Oh well, we'll have plenty of better days between now and the first of November!! :grin: :grin: :grin:

I can tell you exactly when I'll be heading out. When the swell and wind waves add up to 10 or less and it's my day off.

Hey guys... you don't have that long to wait. I'll be headed out of town soon. Sometime during that 10 days, the ocean is sure to be lovely. That's just the way it seems to work for me. :depressed:
