Garabaldi 8/1
Even though I read the report for today, we drove over this am on the off chance that NOAA had over estimated the report as they have done all week and we could sneak out. But as my luck would have it was even worse than predicted. All of the Party Boats turned around and gave refunds. All us little guys packed it up and headed to the barn. 8ft in the hole is just a little to much. It was a long way to drive for a muffin and coffee. Oh well maybe tomorrow.

Thank you - makes this weekend's chores (yet another weekend working instead of fishing) easier to handle.

Re: Garabaldi 8/1
Tough break on the ocean conditions, sorry. I've turned around a few times running out of Garibaldi. That bar and CR are tough on a big Ebb with any kind of rough sea.

There's a story in the really old book. Jonah and the whale. Bud says fish the Mt. Crossley area. If he says they are stacking them out there then that's a good reason to give it a try.

If you are close enough to Garibaldi ie. Bay City/Ghost Hole are, you can get the bar report on 1610 AM. This partly paid for by the state marine board. It is the same recording as on the telephone but you do not have to wait your turn. It might save the cost and trouble of a launch.

Re: Garabaldi 8/1
The tide exchanges with the sun and moon in alignment are ferocious. I'm sitting tight for the honey-do's this weekend. Except there's no honey. I guess it's just "the do's". Next weekend I'll be killing fish ... just 2 weeks left of crabbing the ocean.

We waited for the tide swing. Went out (10:30a) right in front of Tred Barta. He was headed a little more south then us. Ran 43 miles and never found blue water. 57.3 degrees @ 43 miles, turned south for five and the temp was a bit better but never broke 59.4. The pond was very sporty @ 8'. Drug clones for thirty miles with no takers. Porpoise breaking around the boat but lots of green/grey cold water.
If you plan to run Sat. get your numbers first, good luck and be safe.
