Default buoy 10

Looks like I may try it in the river 'round B10 Saturday...
Maybe up by the bridge as I hear its 'better' up there just hate to waste the gas if no fish are to be had anywhere in the est.....

Sunday for the ocean is looking dicey....but maybe doable with only 4' seas....
I'll see what the weather Gods (and our schedule) permit.

If I was gonna fish the river this saturday, here would be my plan:

Get right out to B-10 at about 10 am or so. With the minus tide at 0800 it will take a while for enough water to push back into the river to bring any fish with it.

Fish about the first half or so of the incoming at B-10 holding against the incoming, then if I'm not limited out, turn around and start trolling upriver with the incoming. If you stay out until high slack and into the start of the outgoing (long day), then start trolling back downhill with the ebb. If you are on the OR side of the river try trolling just a little north of the greenline at the start of the ebb. If on the WA side I like to find about 25 feet of water along the sands. My baits of choice would be spinners and whole fresh herring.

Skybuster,
Thanks for the blow by blow. Makes since. My plan was to hit the buoy with the bow then do exactly what you describe....figured why not.
I'll let you know how I do for sure....

Too early for fish in the river, don't waste your time. Usually they don't hit the river until the 2nd week of August at the earliest and everything seems late this year anyways.

A few years ago the season opened on a thursday or Friday. I towed my boat down friday after work and put it in the water that night. A friend and I made a couple passes on the green line because the tide was just starting to go out. We caught 3 fish in 3 passes, and we were the only boat on the water fishing that we could see.

The Clatsop county sherriff boat pulled up next to us and asked if we were okay after netting the last fish. Apparently they saw the only boat on the water sideways, and dead in the water, and assumed we were in trouble. We replied that we were fishing, they asked "what for?" and I told them salmon. They asked if we did any good and I held up the last fish. The jaws dropped on all 3 deputies aboard, then they said nice work and took off.

I wouldn't go out there expecting to catch fish tomorrow, but I wouldn't be surprised if I caught something either.
