Tomorrow
Opening day. How many of you Ifisher's are going to be in the woods at the crack of dawn? I know I will, we are taking our 73 year old father out to hopefully get him his first bear. Good luck everyone.

Wish'n I was hunting, but got to work. Hoepfully will get out soon. Good Luck to all who go out.
Be careful, the woods are very dry and ripe for fire.

Re: Tomorrow
Good luck to everyone. It can, it will, and it has been done on opening morning. I recall a morning not to many years ago, when I pulled into our driveway about 10:30 am. My wife who was watering her rose garden spoke up sharpely, "What are you doing home so early". "Well, I got the 'big one'. He's in the cooler on ice in the back of the truck", was my reply.
Seems my wife was fixin' on having some of her friends for coffee, pastry, and girl talk about mid-afternoon. When I said, "come help me butcher 2 loads of bear meat", she sprayed me with the hose.
Anyway, I spotted a good one on the 4th of July morning in a clearcut. I went back to find another bear, but smaller, in the same area on the 3rd Saturday of July. I had a good idea where I would start hunting that opening morning. I could hear him breaking brush while feeding in the bottom of the clearcut, before it was light enough to spot him.
It was good eating, but the hide was in poor condition and nothing to have tanned, as it was quite thin and rubbed. And yes, I cut and froze that beat meat the next morning, long after my wife's freinds departed!

I will be heading out at lunch and I am hoping to catch up with my buddies and hopefully helping them out with a critter. If not, then they can help me tonight..lol
Good luck guys, take lots of pics and give us detailed reports. Tell us how you were hunting, pics of the area, field photos and even photos of the stomach contents.

Re: Tomorrow
Had to work today. Will be going out Saturday and hitting it hard...close to home. Not a hot bed for bears, but it is better than staying home.

No bears today...but I saw a heck of a lot of elk. Good for the bow tag...in 29 more days.

Re: Tomorrow
we are going out in the morning to try to call one in, wish us luck that we all dont get eaten. I just hope the shooters can hit what they are aiming at.
Went out tonight with the boys to sight in their bows a little and seen a coyote out in a field, I grabbed the squealer call and hammered on it, the coyote just took off for the hills. But he did keep on looking back as I was squalling. would have been an easy rifle shot but not with a bow.
