Should We Postpone TA Meeting?
Just got off the phone with Mark Mc, and I think we need to make a decision ASAP, like 11:00 so that we can e-mail, phone all... so that reservations can be cancelled without penalty. The weather is going to be atrocious for BBQ etc.
PLEASE RESPOND AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE

Re: Should We Postpone TA Meeting?
Yeah, I think so. Lots of reasons why, none of which have anything to do with wimping out - just common sense.
I won't leave anyone hanging, so Rod or Edsr, if you're still gonna come down, I'll come over. Otherwise, probably not.

Re: Should We Postpone TA Meeting?
Popeye,
I have been wandering the same thing. Every weather forecast I have seen looks bad for this weekend. As anyone seen a long term forecast for the following weekend? If we cancel, we need to probably do it before this afternoon. I don't know what the RV offices policy is on cancelations. Just let me know.

Re: Should We Postpone TA Meeting?
With the predictions and sat images the crew and I are likley to pass and conserve our limited funds and vacation days for more productive conditions. I was sure looking forward to the gathering. Durned early season weather

Re: Should We Postpone TA Meeting?
Jenny, we could certainly transform this thing into an inside event. The concern is that so much of the appeal was the combination of outside events: bringing boats, crabbing, cooking crab, barbeque'ing, standing around outside smelling the cooking fish-stuff, etc. Plus the folks bringing kids probably feel that these outdoor activities are what really makes it worthwhile for their kids. If it turns into an inside-only, we lose all that, and some folks would certainly cancel. Not that I would mind one bit being stuck in the Rogue...

Re: Should We Postpone TA Meeting?
Mark Mc: Who's Jenny?
Well, remember why you guys started this in the first place? You wanted to hold a mid-valley TA meeting, right? Newport location was originally suggested for a small gathering of "locals" on Popeye's boat. Then the chinook opener was announced and everyone got excited about going fishing. It grew and grew and grew from there.
So, if folks from out of the area don't want to come down because there's no fishing opportunity, then maybe that's okay. Maybe you guys still hold your "mid-valley" TA meeting and we plan a big salty event for when the ocean is happy.
Just my $.02

Re: Should We Postpone TA Meeting?
Wet and miserable fishing is O.K. but with little or no possibility to fish would mean just wet and miserable.
My vote would be for a new date.
A meeting which is directed to indoor pursuits only could be scheduled, main emphasis on the indoor aspects, outdoor weather permitting. In that case the facilities scheduled would be different than those set for the Sat. A different kettle of fish altogether, all good but different.
Dam, I was looking forward to it!
Best wishes ,

Re: Should We Postpone TA Meeting?
TTT...
Sorry "Jen", yea you're way too tough to be a "Jenny."
If I think just of myself on this, then I don't mind the weather, cramming into Bruce's boat, or where-ever. But thinking about the group and the anticipated activities, I don't think it will go over very well. So on that latter note, I vote to re-schedule. Of course there's always the chance that the weather smacks us again, but those are the breaks.

Re: Should We Postpone TA Meeting?
OK everyone. The planning committe has just decided to pull the plug on the formal event. So the parking lot / camper / BBQ gathering is CANCELLED. Formal event to be re-scheduled later.
BACKUP PLAN FOR SATURDAY: Some of us are keeping our hotel / overnight plans. Marty & I (& probably a few others) will be at the Rogue Brewery on the restaurant side (hang a right atop the stairs) from 4 to 6 pm on Saturday for beer & chat. We'll then order dinner ~ 6. So if anyone would like to join us please do. We are saving the photo & name-game contests, gear demonstrations, etc. for the next time. Also, Popeye (Bruce) will be on his boat (Julie Rose III) making sure it doesn't break free from the dock. He says "drop on in" if you're around.
REQUEST: Although I'll send out a cancellation e-mail to many folks, we want to make sure everyone gets this message especially those travelling from afar & staying overnight. Please make phone calls to those you know, informing them of this cancellation.
Thanks much & still hope to see a few of you Sat. at the Rogue....Mark Mc
