Re: Halibut Harpoon
How about Hali-hammer? It's hard to say until we get to see it.
Oooohhhh, man, gonna be lots of show-and-tell this weekend. I can't wait!
Keta! What do you mean you can't make it. I'll come get you and you can stay with us! And if you don't think I mean it, just try me.
Really would like to see you there.

Re: Halibut Harpoon
Does nobody dare do a play on words with "Butt" for fear of being reprimanded? I know how some of your minds work...fess up...

Re: Halibut Harpoon
Skein,
Mostly short on money but we're finishing up lambing a bit late this year and I still have cleanup to do. If I don't do it you'll all have to call me Lea, after my wife uses her Bobbit knife on me
Two sets of triplets and the rest twins. All healthy. One lamb did something to her front leg and I have to take care of her, I hope she makes it as she is a large strong lamb.
I'll be up next weekend though.
Mark,
Something like **** Forker?

Re: Halibut Harpoon
Hey Bruce, I always call my halibut harpoon "Poonstick". I'm needing another one cuz lost my points and can't get them replaced. Seems everyone who made them up to now have stopped making the points. Are you going to be making a selling them? If so, bring extras in case you have come up with a winner.

Re: Halibut Harpoon
you can get points at seattle marine and narrows tackle. we bought one and sent it to a loacl high school machine shop for the kids to make. they made them for three bucks each. the only thing different we cut the rear of the tip at a 45 degree angle to help toggle the tip after going thru the butt. we also made the delivery stick or handle. what ever you call it. i'll get some pic. don't know how well they will work but they look cool and feel deadly when you have it in your hand.also bob's in longview has the tips kinda of pricey @ $14.00 each.

Re: Halibut Harpoon
It's not a harpoon it's a HALPOON..
I made one up to the design that Jon showed me at one of the meetings. I was hoping to get some feedback on the design this weekend-end. I found a source for the materials to build if anyone is so inclined and I have enough material left to make one more shaft, six more tips, and one gaff. I don't have a lathe so it's all file work for me.

Re: Halibut Harpoon
Edsr...My new design is patterned after the wooden one that I've had for about 10 years.....However, this one is a machined aluminum
2 piece, annodized harpoon. Not as cheap as wood, but I guarantee will last longer than me
