Elkton hunt starts in 2 days!!!

I cant believe it but I could start hunting elk in 2 days. Drew that Elkton hunt that starts on August 1st and runs till March 31st. Probably wont get down there this weekend but probably the next weekend after that. Do some fishing during the hot part of the day then look around early and late in the day. My dad and I both drew this tag and I really want to get him his first elk. Anybody ever hunt this area before? I plan on taking my 11year old daughter on this hunt since she wont be in school yet and seeing and or harvesting a cow elk shouldn't be that tough.?.

Looks like a patch work or private and public land but will have to investigate a little more. I'll post a report when I head down there. If anybody has any info for this hunt that would be nice, if not wish me luck.!

I used to live there, as a kid. Have been back a few times since then. Give your hunt boundery/borders, and I might be able to help a bit, not sure how much, but I know the area pretty well.

I dont know the boundries... but if the tioga unit is part of it, try elliot state forest. Thats turn at Loon Lake and head twards Allegheny

There are no elk around there so dont waste your time HA HA HA! Bigamefisher where at in elkton did you live and when? I lived there for 20 years. Thought that I might have met you before.

I will generalize the boundries. Highway 38 is the southern boundry between Scottsburg and Divide. From there and band of area north approximately 5-10 miles if that makes sence. Right now I'm leaning towards hunting just north of Scottsburg or the area around rock creek/sandy creek.

Elkhunter14 - I moved from there when I was 11. I turn 40 this year. I lived off of sawyer creek road for a while, then moved to a spot just past where Hinderer rd crosses sawyer creek. Do you by chance know Mike Beckley?

Damien - Sound like your hunt is on the wrong side of the river. Anything on the south side and I can help, but.......anything north, not so much.

Yeah it is to bad because I've been up on Wagner Creek a bunch and have seen a ton of both deer and elk up there. Ow well they will be around just have to make sure I'm not on private land. Thanks anyway.

Try Paradise and Weatherly creek drainages, if they're in your hunt area. My recollection is that it's basically from the top of the ridge down to the river, is that right? There should be elk all along in there but there's also some rugged country as well.

I don't know Kent. Mike was in my class in grade school. I left there when I was in the sixth grade. Ask him if he remembers David Clearman, the next time you talk to him. I was thinking of taking my future brother-inlaw down there for a crack at his first buck for rifle. I'll be over east to start for mine, but am still gonna take him out. How is the deer population down there doing? My dad's parents lived in Drain.

I know the Kesterson family owns the big K, and the parrish name sounds familiar. Been a while since I lived there...almost 29 years.
