Myself, wife, and kids are still in. We're bringing the boat and staying at the Inn at Yaquina Bay on Friday and Saturday. Should have room for a couple on the boat for anyone who needs a ride, just shoot me an email.

I plan to be there. I will have my Arima, and can take 2-3 people. I have not fished out of Newport before, so would like to follow/hook up with someone.

I'm gonna try and make it as well. Ocean opener on the rockpile, seas willing. I looked at my log and hit a beautiful day last March at Stonewall banks.

Re: Newport 3/15 Tunaholics Mtg (Read!!)
Yup. We'll be there with bells on. Please add Puffin's Crew (1)
If we're fishin' chinook on Saturday, we'll join the party after we limit the boat or when it gets dark, whichever comes first.
If it is a no-go ocean, what time should we plan on meeting?

Re: Newport 3/15 Tunaholics Mtg (Read!!)
Mark Mc,
You can e-mail me through the board. It is the envelope looking button at the lower left of each post. Your profile doesn't allow email to be sent to you. I sent Popeye an email but didn't hear back from him.
I will be there. Along with my boat and camper. Plan to arrive Friday night and leave Sunday night.
Threemuch and Chinnok_Hunter are going to fish with me. I think Kurt only planned on fishing one day but I don't know which day.
I may have one or more seats available for both days.

Re: Newport 3/15 Tunaholics Mtg (Read!!)
Hello again y'all. Couple updates:
Lots of questions about start time, and what to bring. The folks with campers & grills will be there early in the day. So, from previous conversations with Popeye & others, I think it's safe to say:
(1) unofficial start (of the BS'ing, bay cruises, etc.) anytime from mid-morning on.
(2) "official" start at 2 pm.
(3) start the grills at 3 pm. Lucky boaters with fresh fish / crab, be ready!
We are not doing the official potluck-list thing. Just several BBQ grills, and a number of people stating that they'll bring fish, meat, & beverages. So yes some side dishes would be nice, paper plates / plastic utensils, etc. if you'd like to bring something. And folding chairs.
For those who have just signed up ( & have not received my e-mail), please provide me via e-mail with one interesting thing / factoid about yourself. Present or past profession? High school / college athlete? Hobby other than fishing? Brush with fame? My e-mail is: waterwise@attbi.com
Also, if you can, e-mail me a digital photo of yourself as a young ladd or lass. Bonus if it's a fish picture.
There have been questions about kids. Sounds like there will be a handful of 9 - 12 year olds, and a few 5 - 6 yr olds.
For those who would like to solidify plans to take boat rides with others, or offer an open seat, I would suggest starting another thread on this topic.
Fishplay, thanks for pointing that out about my profile. I'll fix it.
Thanks for all the great responses. The planning is almost as fun as this thing will actually be. See Ya....Mark Mc

Re: Newport 3/15 Tunaholics Mtg (Read!!)
Weather vortex.. ocean conditions look like they're improving going into Tuesday. Hope it continues along those lines going into the weekend.
