Avast, ye maties!

"Avast" is one of thoses words that I have heard from time to time. I realized that I didn't know it's meaning - or even if it was a real word. I thought maybe it was pirate talk, like ARRRR!

So I got out the handy dictionary. It turns out it's a real word and quite appropriately used in this board's greeting.

But I suppose you guys already knew that.

"ARRRR!" is how a land-lubber wanna be pirate would spell it. The
correct spelling is "ARRRGH" ... As in "Arrrgh matey, how ye be?".
