Well I'm sure everyone is rip roaring to go to another boat show, but amazingly there is one more. There's going to be one here on the S.Coast on March 29th and several large distributors are holding the events as well as boat sales (I can't go into details here for the sake of the paying sponsors) but it's going to be geared towards offshore fishing ranging from salmon to halibut and yes, TUNA!!!

My local chapter of Steelheaders is going to be an active part of it also. There will be multiple booths and lots to see from what I'm told.
One thing that's going to happen is my father and I have been voted to give talks on offshore rigging and fishing for both tuna and salmon by the local fishermen in the area. Dad is going to handle the tuna on his boat from everything from finding places to start with water temps, locating fish, and ways to rig using both hand lines and poles. Ways to fight fish after the first strike to impove chances of more hookups and how to keep lines from tangling. Handling of fish will also be covered after the catch in bleeding and transferring fish to coolers.
My boat is going to be rigged for salmon fishing and I'll cover topics from finding fish, rigging multiple lines on downriggers, popular techniques on the ocean and some that not so many people know about. I'll show how to target both chinook and coho and answer as many questions as I can inbetween.
I plan on sporting my Ifish attire in the meantime to support the board.

Anyhow, for the local business people on the board (TH, and others....) I can get info for you to get booths and what not. Hopefully a lot of people will show.
A lot of our talks will cover most of what experienced salty dogs probably will know, but there's a lot of interest from people out there that want to learn better ways to fish tuna and salmon effectively and that's what we'll try to promote and show. Hopefully we can share some knowledge on it and spread the sport a little.
