Type of bass
What is this to you guys? This guy I "know" is saying this is a very large smallmouth but it looks like a postspawn largemouth to me.

Re: Type of bass
More info....
This is on a private pond in New York, which I believe is the only place this guy fishes so perhaps he's never caught a smallmouth.
Additionally, I don't really know him...he's just a contact from a friend's myspace page.

Perhaps he just needs to reference this, regardless of color, this works.
Smallmouth versus largemouth bass - identification
Distinguishing small mouth bass and large mouth bass
To tell small mouth and large mouth bass apart, look at the closed mouth. If it extends back beyond the back of the eye, the fish is a largemouth. If it goes only to the middle of the eye, it's a smallmouth.

Easy there yourself... Roger is just joking.
Didn't to even think to youself, "gee I wounder why Roger would start his post with "
Most of the people who have been here awhile will get it anyhow.
As for the fish it clearly looks like a LMB to me.

Re: Type of bass

Thanks
Roger

Re: Type of bass
Right. That was funny. Guess I'm just not as sophisticated as "most of the people" who have been here a while, because it sounded like he was scoffing at him to me.

Re: Type of bass
Oh now, Lord knows I've given Roger a fair amount of grief myself so I had it coming Arkansasbassser hit the nail on the head though...I was sure if the guy only heard from me he would just get up in my face about it...so I thought I'd address the panel of experts to get some backup
And for P. Martin
Thats not me, and the aforementioned fish I caught that you can't seem to get over is posted in my Outdoorbum gallery....this guy's in New York, I'm in Oregon..take a gander!
