Default The Latest SST

Here is the latest SST and I sure am not smart enough to explain all those purple areas where the tuna were caught on Sunday. 42 degree water at the 125 line. I don't think so, but then what do I know? Cloud cover?
Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks.

I would agree that is cloud cover. The water off cannon is looking fishey. I think that is the general direction we will be heading on friday. It will be interesting what rip charts has to say when they update their pics, but things are starting to look up for us. I hope that the NW wind will be gone for a while, so we can fish.

That shot was taken at 20:30 UCT - you have to subtract 7 hours to get Pacific Daylight time, which means the shot was taken at 13:30 hours or 1:30 PM. Mid and late day shots can be deceiving based on fog, cloud cover and day time solar heating of the water surface.

Here's a sat image from 4:30 PM today. I'm betting that the cloud cover and water vapor just inside the 125 line are affecting the SST shot.

It is not unusual to see a 'wall' of cloud or low hanging fog where the water is warmer than the surrounding area. Often you can see it a ways off and I always head for something like that when I am hunting in that general direction to begin with.
