Right now, 30mph sustained winds and 40 mph gusts. Gale or not doesn't sound like much fun to me!

Thanks, Salmonator, sounds like the answer is YES!

Thanks for the report. I guess I'll stay home tomorrow and practice my knots.

Default Did the storm happen?

The only reports I've seen for Newport say 10 - 15 kt winds, not the gale that was predicted. Did it happen while everyone was asleep? Is it still coming in?

What's it like there now?

I cancelled a herring run for Saturday, but will probably come on over tomorrow unless the storm really is gonna hit. The only thing worse than getting pushed off the water by weather is to stay off the water worrying about weather that never materializes. I've gotta believe those guys (NOAA) but darn (!) I hate missed predictions.

Saturday was great and the storm finally blew in Sunday.

A friend stopped by on Saturday PM and showed me 30 minutes (a limit) of herring from the area of the LNG tank (green gas tank). He said he took longer to get out there in his drift boat (w/ 8 HP motor) than it did to jig the herring.

The herring are starting to school at SB Marina and should be available very soon in good numbers from the docks, if they aren't already.
