Default My 2008-2009 Hunting Season Has Been Affected Too.

Last week, my wife, with minor assistance from yours truly, welcomed into the world a beautiful baby girl.
Katelin Alexis Archie, she tagged out at 21 inches long, and weighted 8lbs 3ozs.

As much as I love to hunt, I've already burned most of my vacation time welcoming this little girl into our home. It was a good tradeoff and I have no regrets. I'll probably archery hunt Eastern Oregon 1 weekend for the season, spending the rest of season on the westside looking for the first legal animal, or catching up on lawn work before winter.

For waterfowl season, I'll be turning in my SI weekday hunter card, good for high numbered westside chips, or a guaranteed eastside spot in footbridge. I'm heading back to the weekend chip pull, non rez line, or the kindness of friends and strangers with reservation, good pulls, or invites down the LC. Because my time is limited, I probably won't let a spoonie, teal, or hen anything pass my blind. Who knows, maybe I'll go for the state authorized coot limit, but I will not renew registration for the Sawbill Derby this year, a man's gotta have some standards.

In closing, I'll borrow a chorus line from a good song by Chicago.
"If at the end of a hunting day, if you see me walking by, and the tears are in my eyes, just look away".

Have a good season guys, I'll be living thru your stories.

Congrats. Don't fret, there's always next year to hunt. You don't get to have a second chance with the little ones though. It's a good trade off.

Congratulations on the little one. I also believe that it was a good trade off and I know it was already said, but there is always next year.

I went thru it last year with a son born on Sept. 6th. It hurts a little but you will need all your energy for the little one. This year, after his birthday party we are gone. But the best part is I get to come home to a health family, thats more important than any tag. Believe me its been hard since about Febuary to focus on anything but hunting, it will just be that much sweeter.
