New Boat!!!!!
Well my wife is going to have a good Valentines day. She finally got the fishing boat she has always wanted.
So now it is official, no more looking for love in all the wrong places, no more blind dates with friends boats, no more searching the internet for that perfect one,....
2003 20' Hewescraft Searruner, 115 Honda 4 stroke, 9.9 Honda 4 stroke, full canvas, 52 gal fuel tank, pair of 42" jump seats, black stripe with black top, ect, ect....
I wanted to thank you'll for putting up with my onslaught of stupid questions. (more to come) It is very nice to get information from people who have been there and done that.
The boat will be delivered in mid May and that seems like 200 years from now.
Thanks again,
Birdnest

Re: New Boat!!!!!
Pilar,
I am not sure. My initial goal is to begin the process of equiping my boat with the necessary safety gadgets and becoming proficent in their use. I am also going to take a boater safety course. I am not interested in becoming a bad statistic.
The second tier will be downriggers, extra rods, and the rest of the fun stuff.
Now, only 199 years, 364 days, and 22 hours until mid May. :depressed:

Re: New Boat!!!!!
Birdsnest, good answer. Don't overlook the obvious, easy river, get to know ya boat ride. You did buy the boat for fun, yes?
So, once you get the required basic lifejacket and fire extinguisher type stuff in the boat go learn how to launch and recover it.
BTW, I really appreciate your caution. It fits a new boat owner much better than the 'King of the bay' attitude I see so much of anymore.
Do you have a name yet?

Re: New Boat!!!!!
PM,
At this point MOJO is leading the pack. My name is Joe, so it is a little play on words with out being toooo corny. Also the black boat kinda works with the MOJO, baby. I liked NO QUATER, but the better half wasn't as impressed. Wifey likes GOOD LIVIN'.

Re: New Boat!!!!!
Congrats. Birdnest. I had just about as much fun finding a name for my boat as i did buying it.I just completed the process yesterday. I added two decals, custom designed for my boat, "Nimpkish" Finding a name was as tough as finding the boat. Its all good fun. id. p..

Re: New Boat!!!!!
Hey Birdnest, congrats (to your wife) on the new purchase. I'm sure she won't be disappointed. I just hope you enjoy your Hewes as mush as I have mine. I've only had mine for 1.5 years but have been out in it 60+ times. If you have any questions or want an opinion feel free to email me. HJ

Re: New Boat!!!!!
Congrats on a very fine boat. I have a 2001 and have over 600 hours on it with no problems. I went with 90 and an 8 which do just fine so the 115 will be even better. The 90 goes about 36 with 4 people and the 115 should do close to 40. You will want to rig your sea anchors off of the side instead of the back so it doesn't wander as much at anchor. Maybe after you get it you could teach me how to put the top down as it has never been down on my boat. Once again congrats and if you want to go in MY Hewescraft before May for springers drop me a line
