Default Daiwa 2-Speeds!

Anyone looking for a halbut/tuna reel? You may want to check out the New Sealine SLD 2-speeds that are due out in March. This is Daiwa's answer to the Shimano TLD-II. The biggest difference is the frame and left side plate is actually aluminum instead of graphite.
The 20 2-speed is listed at $299.95 and the 30 2-speed is listed at 309.95. The single speeds are supposed to sell well below the $200 mark. You can check them out at

I wonder if being last to market with a two speed reel will mean they learned from the rest of the manufacturers.

It sure looks like they paid attention to Penn. It has that Penn look to it instead of Shimano or Okuma.

Ebay has a guy that sells new 2 speed penn's for $245 (the buy it now feature). He must have a constant supply as he has had them on there for over a year.
