Re: Valitines gift
Get her anything you want but it better include one or more of the following.
Chocolate
Flowers
Simple jewlery
V-day Card (with personal sentiment)
Romantic dinner
Perfume
What you spend will be less critical than how you present it. Use some thought and make it special.

Re: Valitines gift
Hmmm... romance and boating....
How about a pair of earrings? John got me a pair of really cool jade dolphin earrings last September. I get so many compliments on them! They don't have to be expensive... just try to match her "style".
Good luck!

Re: Valitines gift
I bought halibut earrings for my wife at the Maritime Museum in Astoria 2 years ago. They were less cost than a dozen roses. They still had some there 3 months ago. They are still working to this day, unlike roses. The giving of halibut jewelry is the greatest expression of love that a man can give to a woman according to ancient Norse mythology.

Re: Valitines gift
Fishplay has the correct answer based on my experience. My wife likes to fish and boat, but, as I become more mature, I am learning that Valentines Day is not about fishing and boating.

Re: Valitines gift
Jen,
Trust me, I never make up stories. They really do sell halibut earrings at the museum. When I went there 2 years ago, the lady at the trinket counter said, "can I help you?". I said " I am looking for halibut earrings, ha ha". She said, " I have some of those right here behind the counter. They are not on display because there is not a heavy demand for them". So you see another example of Viking tradition being lost through the centuries.

Hey Sharkbait,
I know your budget ... get flowers and candy. Has always worked OK for
your Mom when money was short! Wait till you get a job before you start
thinking about Jewlery!

Re: Valitines gift
Jen,
You see I am not the one making up stories, as is Rod. These earrings in his picture are probably not real. The pair I bought are a different color and they were smaller.

I see you settled for the "small ones"
She appears to be delighted with them.
Has she seen the picture you just posted on the internet for everyone to see? ROTFLMAO

Fattening one up might be a good idea.
There was some talk about the coasties taking our boat heaters away!

Re: Valitines gift
I took my wife to the Embarcadero in Newport and got a suite with a jet tub. She really enjoyed it. Even had a fireplace. Now to top it off you could take your boat and go get some Herring and crab. They have a crab cooker and a cleaning station for their guests.
On Valentines night they usually have a special dinner just for the occasion.
Have fun...

Keta: I used to I'm going to have to hit the gym hard before I can be a bow ornament this summer!
