Garibaldi
2 foot WW 5 foot swells at 13 seconds for tomorrow. Time to get some salt on the boat at 3 arch rocks. Anyone else thinking about a bottom fish trip tomorrow?

Re: Garibaldi
Kenai,
Did you go today?
I'm thinking about going out after Sturgeon fishing tomorrow. Looks like it will be pretty nice.

Re: Garibaldi
Just got back, beautiful day out there but slow fishing, got a handful of rock bass but no lings. No one else did much good either, I'm wondering if winter moves them off their usual grounds. Big school of porpoises hung with us quite a while.

Re: Garibaldi
Looks like we are Sunday fishers on the 'Puffin'. Many thanks to Tom Anderson and Kurt Bergner for their skinned knuckles and wrenches of fury today. The end of the refit is in sight. We'll be going out of Garibaldi in the AM. I don't have the tide figured yet.
Kenai, did you crab today outside?

Re: Garibaldi
No crabbing for us, but it must be hot cause there were a zillion commercial pots out. One continuous string from the bar to the pyramid rock.

Re: Garibaldi
Thanks for the report!
We usually can get a few lings right in along the jetties in February.
Gotta get a few sturgies first then were gonna try Dinner Reef.

Re: Garibaldi
After landing three undersized sturgeon we ran up to try and catch a few lings. The ocean was great but Mrs Ling Cod was not to be found. :depressed: The boat we talked to that went to Three Arch Rocks had a few fish but nothing to brag about for a 14+ mile boat ride and 6 hours fishing.
Oh well it was great to be out on the ocean.

Re: Garibaldi
Went out of Tbay at about 9:00 on Saturday though out 6 pots and headed south. Only caught 2 seabass and 2 undersize lings. Headed back in around 2:00 pulled the pots and had exactly 2 limits of nice hard crab. Went back out a bagged two more limits on Sunday in about 2 hours (using 6 rings). The family, neighbors, and co-workers are happy. You just can't ask for any nicer ocean conditions this time of year. HJ

Re: Garibaldi
HJ-
Sorry I missed it. Really sorry, cuz I could use the crab. Keep me in mind for your next trip, I will put you on those bass and lings.
There is a deepwater reef to hit off Garibaldi if the shallow stuff isn't happening, it's about 300+feet, but it's pretty good.

Re: Garibaldi
Glad you found the crab, Hawgjaw. Was it in the spot I showed you?
Nothing beats barnacle bill crab from the ocean off Tillamook.

Re: Garibaldi
Pilar, we ended up doing better crabbing a little farther south. There was a lot of leaves and sticks (that was sticking to the bait) the closer you got to the jetty. Thanks for the pointers. HJ
