Default coastal hot spots?

anyone know of a hot spot to do some bank fishing this weekend along the coast? Not particualr on what I catch. just need to get out and relax a while. Wouldnt mind doing some crabbing as well.

My son this past week fished the end of the south jetty at Newport and caught some big Greenlings. He also caught some bass the other day in the cove just south of Whale Cove, ( if you go about a half mile the highway starts up hill and there is a peice of the old highway to the right. Park there and just hang to the left.
A guy at work caught 60 some bass by the sea wall in front of the Embarcaro (sp?) the other night,

I will be leaving from Portland. I can go as far as Depot Bay or out to astoria. and anywhere in between.
