Default Fuel Management System

I want to install a fuel management system on my 22' Seaswirl Sable. The ones I have looked at require the sensor to be on the engine side of the fuel filter. The fuel filter is mounted to the engine and there is no room on the engine side of the filter. I think I will have to install another filter in the fuel line somewhere between the tank and the factory filter. Anyone got any better idea?

I suppose the reason for putting sensor upstream of the filter is in case of a catastrophic sensor failure. Wouldn't want a chunk of sensor taking out your engine. If this is the case then a simple inline fliter downstream of the sensor should do the trick. No big deal as you are already going to cut the fuel line once to insert the sensor.

I had the same problem with my 20ft. Trophy also. I went ahead and took out the filter and moved it upstream of the sensor. Not sure there is another way.

Put an in line filter above the sensor, 25 bucks MAX. Probably more like 15. It doesn't have to be a pricey spin on type. Just make sure it has a removable element and that you have plenty of replacements.

I have a Striper and have been thinking this over. I looked at lots of tanks and my first thought was to mount a removeable tank behind the Captains chair and open the little hatch above the tank and use it when running out. It would take a quick disconnect and a 3 way valve, but there were not filter issues.

Then we looked a gunnel tanks and they don't fit. At least the ones we looked at.

SOoooo....I think for this year I am going to just throw the cans in again, they ride good behind the seat, and only take a few minutes to dump.

Last year I always dumped them in, but rarely were they needed. I think we burned about 50 gallons once and we were 52 miles out that day.
