Default Wak Cam ?????

I don't know ANYTHING about video links, but I am willing to learn.
If you guys and gals think it would be useful I would be willing to set one up on my house. For those who don't know where i live, I live on a cliff about 25 yards from the high water line just North of Yaquina head. I can view everything from the lighthouse to Cape foulweather, and due to the elevation I can see off shore pretty good.

I know many of the online cameras have poor quality pictures, and I would like to put something in that has better quality.

Let me know what you think and if it would be useful to you.... and if so....anyone know where to start?

Thanks...Dan

I will try and post a picture this evenning...

Useful? your darn right it would be useful and we could dream about being there chasing Tuna, Salmon, Halibut, Lings, Seabass, Crabs.

I don't know how well the swell shows up from a cameras' viewpoint, but it sure would be nice to see a flat ocean with no whitecaps

I'd be willing to pony up a donation to help get it going, and a yearly "subscription" to help defray the month-to-month costs.

Great idea!

Dan, talk to Mr. Fisherman. He has the very thing you need going on at his place right now.

I could investigate doing one for the Tillamook bar as well if people would find it useful. In fact, the ideal situation would be a wireless Internet antenna for the Barview Jetty Park coupled with a web cam connected via a satellite dish 2 way connection. The coast guard tower would be perfect, but second best may be my house just above the park. I have not had the desire to investigate what equipment or services are available. There is a cam for the bar at fishinggear.com but the resolution is sometimes hard to see.

Here is part of the view, and I could swing it around to see the lighthouse. I can also mount it higher up,

I will be asking for some tech help here shortly, but the money part is mine.

Thanks....

Anymore helpful hints out there? Thanks

Wak, useful or not that gives a serious sense of inner peace when I'm stuck here in the valley looking at nothing but other houses

Wak, drop me an email. My house is rigged with wireless cameras and it can email me if there is movement at any of the cameras. I also have motion sensors and one pan and tilt camera. Software is available to allow me to switch to any of the cameras and to move the camera on the pan and tilt base.
I'd be glad to help you get this set up but some of the logistics will require some thought... Maybe over a BBQ with beer and Tequila  . The Herring are in and my parts are on the way.

Mr fish...I will give you a call next week, kinds busy this week. anyway I will buy the steaks and the beer. I want to install sometihing that the freinds can use, and never thought about multiple cameras, but as the sun moves it would be nice to have different angles due to reflection.

WP.....the bummer is....in the summertime this is the foggiest place on earth. If you look on a map you will see that the beach on the north side of the Head is about a 1/4 of a mile further west than on the south side.
I do have room for someone to crash when they want too.

Aunt M.....My love life has been pretty boring....I don't know what RJ has been telling you. Get your mind out of the gutter

This weekend I will post the different angles and see which works best for you all........Thanks for the feed back...

NorRivDave, No. I have had both my rigs broken into and my insurance went up $800 per year. I've had enough and want to paint the target on the right head. I didn't disclose the high voltage solution but lets just say I haven't had any issues lately and if I do I'll enjoy the reruns cause I also have the system set up to record video on my VCR.

Wak, that works for me. I am off Thursday and Friday. Email me your number and I'll send you mine and we can work it out.

I even have a way to put a wireless camera on the boat so I can see the look on a thiefs face when his hair starts to smoke

Wak,

I really, really want to live on the coast and have a view like yours, except that I would forever be in a mental coma gazing out to the horizon and blue water. I need an ocean 'fix' every week in the winter and more in the summer, so your plan of a camera or video with that kind of view would be awesome. Let me know if you need any help setting things up.

Great Idea

Marty

Here is a Very nice setup versitile and high quality. Stardot Technologies

If you could get a few donations twards the cammera fund hint hint

It kind of depends on what kind of media you want ie still pictures streaming video ect.. Still pictures will not use up the band width streaming video does and stills will give you a better picture.

If you have any questions drop me an email. I will also talk with MR F.

Dan,

 At my age, all I have left is the gutter. And RJ didn't say anything about your love life. He is afraid to bring it up because he thinks I will want to discuss HIS lovelife with him.
