Replaced the W/pump & now it turns rt?
I am a bit new to owning a prop motor, so forgive me if this is completely ignorant.
New to me 1985 90horse Merc tiller w/prop, replaced the water pump a few weeks ago and now it wants to turn right all the time. I have adjusted the fin deal to the extreme, but it still wants to turn right? What could I have changed by taking the lower unit off and replacing the w/pump? Before I took it apart, it was almost hands free, dead straight.
Thanks!

Which way are you adjusting the anode?
Do you have all the bolts lined up, That is to say is it is
crooked laterally it would not track straight.

You turn the steering zinc the opposite way of the way it is going ...

Re: Replaced the W/pump & now it turns rt?
I have loosened it all up and re-tightened the bolts to insure that things are, or seem straight and the fin deal is cranked all the way and it still seems to pull too much, if I go the other way with the fin it REALLY pulls, so I'm sure it's now turned the right way. Just wondering what else I could have done to create the problem. It doesn't kill you to run it, but after a 30 minute run my left arm and hand are about dead.

Have you changed anything in your boat as far as weight to starboard side ?
Thats just weird that it pulls so much all of a sudden ...

When you had it tilted up, could you have tweeked the
motor on the transon?
The anode or trim tab would not make it that hard....
Could you have got the motor off center?
Did you bend the skeg, somehow?

Re: Replaced the W/pump & now it turns rt?
It's all bolted to the transom so it can't move. Nothing bent or broken that I can see. I took it apart again and carefully put it all back together, I am going to take to the river and try again. Thanks for the help!

One thing comes to mind. Are you sure the bolt holding the anode
is tight? Could it just be fluttering and ready to fall off?
