Default Herring Are In At South Beach

Just got back from the boat.....The herring were swarming all around the boat this morning....Then I realized that I had left all my light tackle at home Oh well, I'm going back over Fri.

Cool. I may try to get my daughter down there Sunday. If you're around we'll give you a shout!

Popeye,

Planning on taking my daughter and son-in-law over to Walport to crab on Thurs. Maybe I'll change our destination to Newport and throw in the herring rods and jigs. Thanks for the report!

P.S. Probably a dumb question, but do herring come into Alsea Bay?

Unless you know somerthing I don't, I would not be crabbing Alsea Bay for at least 2 weeks. Yaquina might be good for crabbing, but too much fresh water in Alsea bay.

Can you use a dip net for herring or is that not effective?
