Garibaldi Live Tuna Report
I ended up bagging the day out of the CR (no running mates, no crew). But just got off the sat phone with Sniper (Ron Anderson - not an Ifish guy). He is 70 NM out of Garibalidi on a 270 degree heading. 6 fish in the box. The boat next to him has 8 in the box. 60 degree water.
Best news I've heard in weeks!

No wonder every one gets Two Foot Itis.
24FT Trophy wont make it out there in these conditions....
I got to get me a bigger boat!
I need to start growing corn and
make a BIO Diesel plant, so i have something to put in the tank.
be patient our time will come,

Sure it would. Looks like you have a 2359 (same as I do); if your fuel burn rate is about 2-2.5 mpg (minimally), you carry enough fuel for about 200 miles.

I will get the #'s from him later tonight (or tomorrow), but my calculations puts that around the 45-50 X 125-30

Isn't the Sniper that pretty red and white Norvelle pilot house boat?
I've drooled over that thing out at the halibut grounds off the CR before. At least some tuna are dying today, only a week and a half 'till Hammond OTC.

Combined seas is swell height and wind wave height added together.
2 foot wind waves and a 6 ft swell is a combined sea of 8 feet.
Very doable if the period (time interval between waves is long, say 14 seconds.) That same 2 and 6 is not doable if the period is 6 or 8 seconds for many of us.
I have a 22 arima. 2 and 6 at less than 10 seconds and I would rather sit in camp and complain. Even if your boat can take the beating, the body isn't so tough. There has been detailed discussion on this in the salty dogs. Maybe somebody has the links.

Spencer, It is a Norvell and I have seen Sniper off the CR many times. Beautiful boat, very fishy.

Thanks Dean, gives us some hope for the Hammond leg. We just need that warm water to come our direction 5 miles a day. Is that asking too much?

Already covered by the others quite well...I look at all the data (height, interval, winds, etc) and then make my call.....always better to err on the side of caution, though......

PTL! And if any of you guys are interested in a Norvelle, there's one on D dock in Newport almost to the end, between the Calamari and an old scowl called Cloud Nine! The boat has twin 225 yamaha's for 125k. Looks to well equiped. I can get a number next time I climb aboard the Calamari and with these reports it will be soon! Once again thanks for giving me another excuse not to work on the garage plans.

Hey ID Painter, I have a 40X40 shop, heated, warm, dry, not to far from the caost. You may want to leave that boat here to save on trailer wear and tear rather that haul it back and forth over the Blues. For a small fee, I can even keep the fuel fresh and the oil turned over.....

IT CERTAINLY WAS FLYING FISH!!!!!
With conditions pretty much above my boats pay grade I decided to crew with Dave and Ken. The 125 line solidly in the rearview mirror we headed out to the suspect water another 20 out, and, bingo!
I think Sniper had one in the box at that point, but he liked our zip code alittle better and came on over.
14 tuna later and 5 or 6 more that wanted to date but not get married....what a great day. They were on most all colors, rods, hand lines, you name it. Never have seen so many smiles stuck on guys mugs for so long.
Thanks Dave and Ken great fun and safe trip!

My max range is about 60 miles and I prefer not to go beyond 50
I best wait til they are closer than 70 miles out
I can only carry 75 gallons of fuel and when I do I am limited to only one crew and myself along with 300 lbs of ice and that makes for a spendy trip
I will wait impatiently til they get closer
Thanks for asking anway
