Question Anything from Newport to Depoe Bay?

I am planning a camping trip for later this year down around Beverly Beach and don't really know the area.

While we will spend most of the time out on the beach or playing on the walking trails, what else is a must see or must do for a family will toddlers?

I'm need a good restaraunt for some good to-go food for the ride home, too. We would love a great little hole in the wall (only locals know) restaurant not to be missed.

Any suggestions?

Oregon coast Aqaurium is fun for the kiddies and there is a resturaunt in the brewery across the road that is kinda cool. You have to walk through the brewery to go upstairs to the resturaunt which over looks the boat docks.Food is pretty good.

Thanks for the great tips.

The kids loved the aquarium and we hit the restaurant at non-peak hours so everything was fast and fresh.

A great time had by all. Again thanks!

I'm pretty off on the Rogue for food, beer is pretty good, but the food always leaves me sort of wondering. If you have kids take them to Flashbacks just south of the Yaquina Bay Bridge on 101, ice cream, pizza, burgers, big kids menu, its basically an old 1950 diner. Shirley's on the Bay Front has a pretty killer breakfast, not for the faint of heart - stuffed French toast - Ohhhhh! I hear Quimbies is really good as well. I've not eaten at Sazbos on the east side of the road where you turn to the Yaquina Head Lighthouse, but have heard its pretty good (might be a biased review since it was the owners son).

The tide pools at Yaquina head are supposed to be pretty good. The interprative center is nice. Hatfield Marine Visitors Center (across the street from the south beach boat ramp) has a great exhibit that is donation only. 11am they do a 1/2 mile estuary walk, 1pm on Saturday they feed the Octopus - very educational. Not the Aquarium but very real science - maybe better for the adults than toddlers.

Have fun
