Go to the Mercury Outboards web site, they have a section where you plug in the motor type and HP, identify your boat size and length and it will give you estmated fuel economy at different RPM levels. If your boat will plane at 3000 RPM it is usually the maximum Miles per Gallon.

Depends on a lot. Boat load and sea condition will make a lot of difference. On the river you will probably get decent MPG. On the ocean plan about half of what you average on the river. My buddy has 20 foot trophy with the same motor and gets around 2 mpg on the ocean.
