Default Babies and boats?

I was just reading the CG recomendations on infants and boats. There are Type II PFD's available for infants designed to keep them face up.

Although, they didn't seem to endorse taking a child under 18 lbs due to the irregularities with infant weight distributions and PFD performances.

The scenario would be a little one on a 20' ( ) Hewescraft Searruner, two adults, fresh water, full top available, under the best of weather conditions. Is this irresponsible?

Fish Me,

Birdnest

Irresponsible? No, I think not. but I don't like to change diapers on the boat and as such my kids haven't been with me until all have been potty trained. I have seen pics of me at around 1 year old out on dad's lobster boat.
Constant supervision is the key and no neat stuff to put into baby's mouth.

my oldest(8) goes fishing every once in a while but always has the life jacket on much to her dismay, and this year she found out why. The columbia river is cold.... even in august.

Take the baby with you. Wear your life jacket also. Up on the Toutle we learned what happens when Mom and Dad don't wear theirs. Mom made it that time, Dad didn't. Maybe next time its Dad and not Mom. How about EVERYBODY wear their PFD? Less chance of "what if?".
