Best place to buy maps
My wife drew her mt emily archery bull tag and i am looking for the best place to buy quality maps. We are planning our first scouting trips and would like to have some good maps that show the country before we head over. Thanks in advance.

Buy the Forest Service fire map for the area you plan on hunting.

Nature of the Northwest, period!!! It is in the state building near the Rose Garden, state run and has BLM, Forest service, USGS, state park, blah blah. The people are real helpful, tell them you want to hunt an area and they'll show you all pertinent maps to the area.

You might want to consider getting that National Geographic USGS Topographical set of CD's. It's about $80.00 for the set, but it covers the entire state. If I had a tag like your wife has, I'd be researching every freekin square inch of that unit, and that would be a whole lot of maps.

If you are going to buy software, I would get DeLorme Topo USA. I have it and National Geographic, and I like the Delorme much better. It costs $50 for all the western states also.

Re: Best place to buy maps
Thanks for all the info guys. I will indeed be heading down to natures of the northwest. I also have the backroads explorer wich has all 50 states. It comes in very handy for the out of state hunts, and in state but it is also nice to have a full size maps. I will post our scouting and hunting reports as they happen.
