Do I know how that is. I had abdominal surgery last fall, during silver season. You will get better to enjoy the full scale of the run. Cheer up, it could be worse. You could be with out pain meds.

Boy, after reading some of those posts I feel like a big sissy! I did drive today to pick up some more pain pills shifting was...dificult. They gave me a bunch of percocet but that stuff makes me really sick so I got some vicodin ES instead, much better! I would be afraid I'd tear out my stiches trying to fight a fish like this. I can wait I geuss, but not TOO long!

You be glad you had the surgery in no time. I had both mine done in Dec and I was driving on the third day. What kind did you have? Did they go in through the wrist? I can't get over the improvement. Still have some numbness in three of my fingers on my right hand, but my mobility and strength have improved dramatically.

You could do like my fishing buddy, and go the next day for fall chinook. It was really funny, he had one hand done at a time. His reeling hand was all bandaged up, and we were on my boat. I asked him one time to pull the anchor, and he tried, but ended up using his one hand, and would use his teeth to hold the rope, so he could get his hand down to pull some more! It was hilarious! I had to man the motor quickly, and we would have drifted into another couple of boats, had I not done that.

He would cast and flip the rod, so he could reel and cast all with one hand.

He wasn't going to let carpal tunnel surgery stop him from catching a fall nook. He has fishing fever bad. He ripped his stitches on this trip. We did not catch any that day.

You are smart to let it heal. Springers aren't coming in any numbers yet, anyway. By the time April is here, you'll be catching with no pain.

I'm with ya', and I feel your pain - only it will be at least 2 more months before I can even think about fishing again. :depressed: Three weeks ago yesterday I had shoulder surgery to repair 3 torn tendons, a labral tear, had some bone shaved, and some bursa removed. Getting my arm up to the keyboard to type is about all I can do at this point. I think I've watched about all the movies I can stand for a while.

I can't sleep in the bed, only the couch or the recliner, and am usually up at least twice during the night.

But, the good news is it will get better and we will catch fish again!

I fished a week after my shoulder surgery. Went on a trip with the late Gary Crum. I reeled my fish in in the rod holder & won the Big fish derby. On a good day just go fishing. Let a buddy do all the work, if you don't have a buddy e-mail me I'll take you. Confortable 20' NR

My late fishing buddy took his last fishing trip with me. He was a diabetic, and had lost his left leg, from the knee down. When he figured out how to get into his lifted 4x4 he called me and said LET"S GO FISHING. He ran the boat and caught a beautiful Springer. I was calling him DORF he was running around the boat, trying to stear and play the fish all from his knees. You and I can do it, but try to do it with only one leg from the knee down. IT'S HARD! I hadn't laughed so hard in years.

Two weeks later I received a phone call saying that he passed away while taking his wife on their 25th wedding anniversary cruise to Alaska.

Again, feel lucky you will survive.
