stolen cuddeback
Sad to say but should have known better. I paid my 250 bucks to access weyco land and get my 400 dollar camera ripped off.I thought maybe if people were paying to access they would have a little respect, doesn't matter I guess. I knew it was a bad idea from the start. Hopefully they'll get tired of the vandalism and garbage and go back to the way it was.

Re: stolen cuddeback
I'm sorry to here that happened to you. Lack of respect for other people's property is rampent these days. My cam is on private property now and I still worry about it. Up there you are subject to the employees as well as paying guests. I hope you notify the company handling the access about it. I didn't buy into it but thought about it. I have spent a lot of time in there back in the seventies. I hope you get it back but that's a longshot at best.

Re: stolen cuddeback
You know what would be great....take a broken one, put it some place you know a thief would go for it; then put one high up in a tree or buy one of those rubber stumps and camo it. See who comes along and maybe get a place for their vehicle. Hose the bait camera with UV clue spray or the stuff that dyes your hands when you wash them. That might prove entertaining.

Re: stolen cuddeback
that sucks man, i really like the pics the cuddeback takes but have a hard time spending that much on a trailcam and having it ripped off would make me mad to have a 100 dollar cam ripped off, people work hard for there things then you have scum that steals it, ticks me off.

Re: stolen cuddeback
That is really a bummer Klr Kut. Sucks to live in this day and age when far too many people seem to have no values. Nothing surprises me anymore. My guess is the percentage of decent people who would respect your property and move on is far less than the percentage that would steal or damage anything they can find. What a sad fact that is.......
How did you have it set up? Was it near a road or ?? Any idea why it was found? Your loss might at least help others from having the same fate.

Re: stolen cuddeback
This is becoming an all too frequent post it seems.
Hope you had it password protected so they can't use it, or at the very least they aren't savvy enough to figure it out.
I guess I'm going to have to start packing my climbing gear with me and mount my cams 10-12 feet up the trees to keep them from being victimized again.
Sorry about the theft Klr Kut !!!

Dang thiefs, No respect for other peoples Property!!.. That is down right Low Class vermin!!... Feel for yea... THis is 3rd Trail cam stolen in the last 2 week's from folks.
Check with that land Access folks, Maybe the Removed it.. With Luck?.
With high cost of Gas, I was not worried about my Trail cams.. but with this many folks stolen Cams.. NO Trail Cam is safe anymore. I like The idea to scale the tree, to secure Trail cam.
Dang Low life Worthless thief's!!!... Keep a look out for Cams for sales, in local pawn shops.. Stop into them, advise them, it's stolen. As with CR list,

I had it bolted to a tree and they either pryed it off with a crow bar or chopped it off with an ax. I think they used an ax your required to carry one in fire season.

Re: stolen cuddeback
I can't take it- that just BLOWS. I took my family to Wild Waves yesterday (and Cabelas ofcourse) and you wouldn't believe how many people cut in line and litter and on and on. There's way too much breeding going on and way to little parenting. I honestly believe the human race- maybe the whole world is doomed. Looks who's doing all the breeding!!!
I think if a manufacturer can make a camera that is 99% theft proof, they will own the market. Are they listening?
I just got to five new Bushnell trail sentrys for 100 bucks each. I'm through with buying the expenisve ones.
Klr Kut so sorry to hear this!!

Re: stolen cuddeback
Somebody needs to start taking thier broken cameras, putting them up in well traveled locations, and putting a virus on the memory card. That way when he hooks it up to his computer... instant payback/karma. I'd do it but I'm not nearly computer savy enough.

Re: stolen cuddeback
what if we were to put a chip inside them. So we could track them by gps via the net. I think you can buy these chips for for implanting in animals necks. Putting them in a cam i think would be a better use.

We need to come up with something. I like the virus on the chip, and I like the paint bomb that banks put in with the money that gets stolen from them. Could you imagine some trailcam thief walking out of the woods painted blue from head to toe? Hmmm...

I would like to get a camera but every time I read one of these stories it makes me think twice.
Is there somewhere to nominate this for a quote of the year???

Re: stolen cuddeback
i have 4 out on public land and i am always worried. it sucks, i just do not understand why people can not leave other peoples stuff alone. there is just a lack of respect anymore, and that is for everything. the kids i hire 70% of the time just do not work out, they have very little respect for other people or the business. most of these guys do not even call in if and when they are sick they just no show. at least 3 times a month some one just does not show up. i used to give them a second chance now unless it is a really good reason (hospital) i just let them go.

Re: stolen cuddeback
87,000 acres of trees and they happened to find the one you hung your camera on? I'll bet it was a timber cruiser. The odds of a common joe public finding it are nill unless of course you hung it right next to the road.

Weyco told me that bolting or screwing anything into a tree ie:tree stand steps etc, is against there rules. But I would'nt think a forester would have removed it with an axe.

I wondered how long it would be before somebody mentioned that. I wonder how upset they would be that I shot the side out of a tree, shooting at a bull??

Re: stolen cuddeback
I'm beginning to wonder a few things about trail cam theft:
1. Are the camera's found by the thieves from the flash going off? If so, it would make sense to buy the infra-red models.
2. (conspiracy theory) Maybe the trail cam manufacturers have satelite tracking built into the cameras to locate and steal them back, knowing you'll go buy another.

Re: stolen cuddeback
I have a nice digital camera and am/was anxious to put it out. After all of the posts on here of stolen cameras, I am very worried about losing my $350 Dollar cam. I really enjoy putting it out and checking the pics...it's almost like Christmas as a child...waiting to see what you got.
I'm going to have to contemplate putting it out this year. I've had my cams messed with before and know guys who've had them stolen.

Re: stolen cuddeback
Last year i was told of a dispute over a tree stand.
A guy put one up in a tree and the next day he went out to sit in it there was somebody all ready sitten in it. The owner of the tree stand couldn't get the guy out, so he went out that night and sawed the tree down
I got to see first hand how people fight over blinds this last season (i was just a spectator, my buddies wanted to blind hunt) I call this "conflict hunting" and i have to say it was a hoot. For me not my buddies They complained and moaned most of the season about this other group they were competing with. I hunted else where and had the time of my life
These trail cams seem to be in the same line of fun

Re: stolen cuddeback
I saw a similar incident while antelope hunting.
One year I went out and built a blind and killed a 14" buck, with my bow. I had my Gpa get the tag the next year and went out to sit in the blind and there was a guy in the pit. (Not that big of a deal, I did leave it for a 1 full year). While we were sitting there contemplating on what to do. A guy came driving up in a pickup at about 40mph jumped out of the pick up and told the guy to get out of his blind. Quite a site to see.

Re: stolen cuddeback
On lighter more comical side....
I ran into a trail cam(not mine) up on one of my favorite hunting spots a few years ago. What really gave it away was the scent wafers left hanging in the area. I left that guy some very interesting photos including:
Multiple pictures of:
My tongue
Pointing my gun right at the cam
Hand held up to my head with fingers seperated imitating giant buck
squating like I was pooin
Striping off my camo provacatively
There were 3 pics when I arrived. Over 50 when I left. IT WAS GREAT!!!
If that cam belongs to someone on here... I WANT SOME OF THEM PICTURES PLEASE.

Re: stolen cuddeback
Some hunters are pretty competitive. I would be willing to bet that some of these cams getting stolen are from other hunters protecting "thier" spot. I've seen guys do all sorts of things. Dropping trees across roads the night before the opener to limit access. You name it.

Re: stolen cuddeback
You folks are making me nervous. I just bought two trail cams for the first time because of the cool stories you guys tell on here. Can't wait to check them out, IF THEY ARE STILL THERE. Thanks for the heads up, I might invest in a security box if that helps. They probably just cut the cable anyways and Ill lose another $50 each.
