Default Garmin76S Support group

Hey bait boy, you were right about the Garmin 76S. After a number of stops shopping last week, considering all of the makes and models, the 76S is the winner. Now we will have to form a support group to learn how to operate the thing.
BTW, I found the best prices on everything at Rogers Marine.

RJ has one as well. Did you get the blue charts CD? I had some experience on this unit from Mr. fishermans purchase of the 76map.

The units are basically the same in fit and function w/exception of the electronic compass which I have turned off and not used since purchase. Mainly because it uses power that I use for navigation.

Yes, its the greatest thing since sliced bread. just like taking your paper chart and putting it on your handheld. plot routes and manage waypoints.

A few things I have learned. with mapsource data selected on it overwrites the base map. I've gotten quite proficient at maneuvering with it. Get a mount for the boat or car if you don't want to hold it in your hand all the time.

Get the 12volt adapter to save batteries especially if you use the light.

bait boy, no, I did't get the CD . I will have my hands full trying to learn the functions on this basic model for the present time. I will consider the CD later, are you using the CD?
