Default Do Salty Dogs fish for springers?

I have a spring break comming. It starts March 16th and lasts for a week.
Do any of you fish the Columbia . Last year i fished below Bonneville, and had fun.
I was wondering, if any of you will be fishing the river then , if so , maybe we could get together and wet a line. id. p.

Come on Jon,
You remember those silver things that swim in the shallower water on your way to the tuna grounds? Some people fish for them in rivers!

I'll be fishing for springers in March for sure. I don't know how often I'll be able to get out this year, but I hope to get a couple of trips in. I'll either be fishing the willamette or the big C at bonneville or Sand Island in all likelyhood.

Ryan, you still actually fish?

To answer the question. Those of us that fish the salt also fish the rivers and even the lakes sometimes. We are addicted to fishing.

You see it was so long in between Pilars springers that he forgot what they tasted like...

Luckily he has buddies like Echo the wonder dog to assist in the pursuit of these beauties

I will refer back to our Tunaholic 12 Step Program:

Tunaholic 12 Step Program

Tunaholic Serenity Prayer:

”God grant me the serenity to accept the fact I cannot go out for tuna today, the courage to live another day without tuna, and the wisdom to know they will come again.”

12 Steps To Recovery

1) Put the poles down and slowly back away.

2) Stop hiding lures in various places thru out the house.

3) Never mistakenly call your spouse "Tuna" during lovemaking.

4) As hard as it is to believe, not everyone enjoys tuna fishing.

5) Selling your car in order to buy more gas to go tuna fishing is not recommended.

6) There are other fish in the sea, I think .

7) Leaving work daily to get home and accept packages from UPS/FedX is wrong.

8) No more telling your spouse the truck broke down while you were out fishing so you'll have to stay another day, or in extreme cases a week.

9) If extreme withdrawals have set in, for instance random "hook setting" while at work or home, or making the zzzzzzzzzzzz sound constantly, do not let the tunaholic near any fishing articles like magazines, fishing gear, or boats as that will make matters worse.

10) Tuna fishing is not a replacement for eating.

11) Unlike AA, recovery should be made away from other tunaholics. Gathering tunaholics will only create more problems.

12) It is not acceptable to miss your child's birth because you were out tuna fishing. (My wife told me that one)

Please refer to these steps in order to stay on the right path in the future.

O.K., it looks like a rendezvous is possible.
Fishplay, i would love to have someone show me some places to anchor and catch springers farther down the river. Maybe a little less current? Maybe a little closer to the salt. Maybe close enough to smell it, and really get me going for tuna. id. p.

I've heard about this mythical creature called a "springer" for many many years. Used to fish for them a lot along with a thousand of my best friends. I always heard that it took 70 hrs of water time to catch one (on average).
After about 700 hrs on the water, I did catch a small (12 lb) Chinook Salmon in the Willamette one year in early June. After many more years of troll troll troll your boat I decided that fish was a rare (his biological clock was way off) early Fall Chinook.
There are NO SPRINGERS. They are just an Urban Myth. Springer fishing is just a way to keep the oil in the boat motor stirred up between the beginning of Ocean Salmon fishing and the end of TUNA season isn't it?

Mel,
Are these the Jerry springers you are talking about, where the fishermen yell and throw sinkers at each other?
