Default Airmar transducer question

If I recall someone had installed this unit this year on a aluminum boat-I could not find that thread-so
Anyone here using the new Airmar B164 1kW Tilted Element
which works well with trailer boats and if so hows it working out? Mark

Doing some online looking - $700+ - I'm hoping it does better than the P66

Yes, actually a s164 (stainless with bushings to isolate metals) I have only had it for a short while but so far am very happy with it. Outperforms the P66 I had prior by leaps and bounds. Might try a pm to killertraylor as he has had his for a bit longer.

Just responded to your pm, Mark. Yes, I've had mine now for several months and love it. It held bottom halibut fishing in 900 feet of water no problem and seems to really mark sturgeon well in the river. Would definitely buy again. I got one of the first ones when they were $1000 - sounds like they keep coming down in price. Once you get done dry heaving because you just cut a 3" hole in the bottom of your new boat, it's smooth sailing... Here's some pics.

$229 is for the 600W in bronze - probably not much better than an airmar P66 transom mount transducer. If you're going to cut a big ol' hole in your boat, might as well get the 1KW The 1KW is $667 in bronze - couldn't find my 1000W stainless on that site - but if stainless doesn't matter, $667 is a great deal.
