Default brake squeek in reverse only

I have a one year old truck, alignment seems fine, brakes are quiet...except when I am backing up. Can anyone explain? EC

May I ask what kind of truck, My ford had slight problems with the e brake doing the same thing, could also be a small pepple that got in there and only catches when backing up

Don't back up or wear ear plugs I know I am a smart --s
Is it coming from the back or from the front? If from front, might be a little peace of metal they put on some brake pads that rubs the rotor to let you know when it's time to replace the pads.

I'll look into that, and plan to have Schwab check it out...however, it clearly seems to be coming from the rear.

The squeal is coming from the rear, and I bet as you back up if you apply the emergency brake the squeal will not get any better or worse. The noise is the squealers they put on the pade to let you know when you are getting close to replacing the pads. It's a simple fix to shut them up, just pull of the rear tires, remove the calipers and the pads will drop out and you will see the shiny spots on the squealers, you can either bend them back or break them off. Just remember that the squealers are there to remind you that your brakes are worn and need to be replaced somewhat soon. The reason it only makes noise in reverse is because you spend 99% of your driving time going forward and the pads/squealers get worn in that direction, when you are in reverse it catches because it's not worn perfectly even. There is a possibility that your pads have a glazed over tecture to them and are just noisy in general, but then they would be noisy in forward and reverse not just reverse.

How many miles are on your truck? An 08 Titan shouldn't have already gone through a set of brakes unless you ride them like crazy! As good and as convienent as Les Schwabs is with a little mechanical knowledge you can do this job yourself in a matter of a half hour! Just trying to save you some bucks that you could use to pay for gas for that V8...

Let me know if you need any help or have any more questions I would be more than happy to help.

Sometimes your brake drums or rotors will have a harrd spot in them that causes these squeels. Have a good mechanic check them out. I do not recomend les schwab because They are a big rip off by replacing things that do not need replaced.

Thanks all...good food for thought. There are 32K on the truck, but many of the miles were on a 100 mile round trip commute to work with no lights (basically no braking Sunriver to Sisters). Maybe I need a trusted mechanic to check it out. I don't know one here, but will make a few phone calls. I like the idea of saving a buck and looking at them myself, so there's that too...any other feeback is appreciated. I'll be taking this advice. Ifish is awesome in a lot of ways....thanks all, and Jennie.

I agree 100 percent, about 6 months ago they told me my front pads needed replacing. I went and bought pads and rotors. Went to put them on and to my surprise, hey I still had 3/16" of pad left, I still aint changed them and still have about 1/8" left.

Les Schwab has excellent customer service but I find them lacking in the brakes department. Take it to your Nissan dealer and get a estimate. I bet they will check your brakes for free. Many places will want to sell you calipers when you replace the pads- dont do it.
