Default Which Saltwater mag is worth getting?

I need to get a subscription to one of the Saltwater mags. Anybody have a recommendation?

Thanks.

Unless you get if for free.... None really.... They are all written by East Coasters for East Coasters with a passing nod to touristy things like Baja or BC resorts.

The local rags ignore the saltwater scene except for salmon and occasionally rockfish or halibut. The best fishing mag is probably the Salty Dogs on ifish. And it is still free.

I rarely find much in them that isn't covered here or found on the docks at Newport, Dopey Bay or friends that fish CA.

As I suspected. Sounds like the market is wide open to startup a local rag - "Salty Dogs".

Gotta agree - All the Saltwater rags are florida/east coast based. I had subs, for several years. Most articles are simply catch logs or location specific. Not much on rigging or technique. Almost nothing that applies to the Oregon Coast. Southern Cal, Baja and South some application. Maybe we should run some rigged Ballyhoo here?
Hmm... markets almost wide open (Sea mag has a fishing section that is west coast oriented). Is there a market?

I got a trial issue of a magazine called Pacific Coast Sportfishing. It was a really nice mag but I haven't yet subscribed. They have a website at www.pcsportfishing.com you might check out.

Glad you posted this because it reminded me I still need to order it.

I ordered a sub to "SEA" magazine at the boat show, and finally got around to going through my copy I got at the show. It was a good read. Lots of good info in there, one article inparticular discussed props, I found it very informative, as well as several others on electronics, etc. Even discussed a little Albie fishing..... The reason I bought it was it was specific to the west coast.

I like it....

I have had Sea Magazine for a few years, pretty interesting at times....I also like Western Outdoors -- sometimes there is a lot of stuff on bass fishing, but it always has something on saltwater fishing from Baja to Alaska.

Check out Western Outdoors.....it's not too bad. It's both fresh and salt water with some Mexico thrown in.

I get SEA and West.Outdoors, both good mags. I also just started getting Trailer Boating a few months ago and it's a great magazine for boating how-to's, not so much for fishing, but great for finding the right boat, good maintenance tips, etc..
