Default Charter recommendation

Hi Salties, I'm looking to do some bottom fishing out of Garibaldi around the middle of Feburary. Can anyone give me a recommendation for a good charter out of there.

And which would be better for Halibut, Garibaldi or Newport? Charter that is. Any recommedations there would be great too.

Thanks

Cutter,
I would recommend Garibaldi Charters in general and the vessel 'D&D' piloted by Bob Bales in particular. As far as halibut, I have only fished off Tillamook Bay for them, but from what I have heard is that Newport is better because it is shallower water and it is closer to shore, and the fish are spread over a larger area.

We have had great success with Siggi G Charters out of Garibaldi on both the bottom fishing and halibut..Weather might be a factor in Feb though......

Joe on the Siggi G is really a sharp skipper and he also has great customer service skills too....You probably already know this but book early especially for the flat ones..........

If you are considering going to Newport, you might also want to consider
Depoe Bay. It's closer than Newport (by about 15 miles) and the same
distance from the 'butt holes.

Dockside Charters (541)765-2545.

... Or Tradewinds Charters out of Depoe Bay, 1-800-445-8730.

Both Charter offices offer both "six pack" charters and "head boat" charters.

Thanks everyone, thanks FA, I have gone out of Depot bay before, I'm thinking about taking my wife out of there this summer. It would be her first trip to the ocean, so I'm waiting for nice weather. Probably looking to take her salmon fishing.

Thanks for the input.

Don't forget about our ifish sponsors (none in midcoast). Tackle Time (Gene) is running Halibut out of the CR (Warrenton). A lot closer drive than going to Newport/Depoe. Not sure about Charlton or Tiki but you can check they're web page.

We went for Lings with Mark Searle, North Marion CHarters in August, and in the first drift we had 3 over 20# for the 4 of us. Got the next 20# the next drift.

is his website. He has a 27' well equipped Seasport and moors at Garibaldi. I know he does halibut, and tuna. His phone number is 877-310-9696. Tell him Jerry and Jay Hofer gave you his number.
