Pollywogs and Shellbacks
Just curious who has "crossed" before and sailed under the Jolly Roger.
Personally, I'm a golden shellback circa 1995.
If you don't know about crossing the line, you can find out more here

Re: Pollywogs and Shellbacks
This 1995 stuff really scares me...the flattop you're talking about wasn't even on the drawing board when I was in...I know there's lots of shellbacks but how many have spent a year on Adak...unacompanied(?)....

Re: Pollywogs and Shellbacks
Rick, you were on the Stinkin Lincoln in 95? You guys relieved us. That's pretty funny. I was TAD to your boat for a bit as well as the Kitty Hawk. You probally didn't know any of the Intelligence guys did you. I'm imagining you were 2nd deck and below. Not like us 03 level spoiled people.

Re: Pollywogs and Shellbacks
Shellback from Westpac 1988 on LSD-43 - Fort McHenry.
All I gotta say is I'm glad I'm not in now. Looks like the whole fleet is going over to visit Saddam!

Re: Pollywogs and Shellbacks
Yeah Mtn Man, I'd rather be on a target. With a sub, 100 men go down, 50 couples come up.
Besides you poor subsurface guys have each other to deal with. What do the attack guys say? "A'int no pride in a boomer ride" or something like that?

Re: Pollywogs and Shellbacks
Ramstrong,
Posting for hubby. Shellback; July, 1991 aboard USS Camden. ETC(SW) Retired. He still hasn't taken his card out of his wallet?
He was never stationed on a Carrier, but they are our bread and butter now! You guys should have chatted at the 6.9 Flotilla and swapped stories.
