Hello everyone...
...wow...is this a great forum or what!...I've always wanted a boat and now I'm in the process of getting one (thanks Ron) but I was thinking to my self, "OK, what now Einstein?"... ...so Ron suggests IFISH to me and for the life of me I couldn't get registered and had given up hope...hehehe...did you guys know there's an IFISH. COM?...so I went to another place Ron suggested (Fisherman's Marine) and "bada bing" there was a link to IFISH. NET... ...so I've been on here since yesterday just reading...Ron wasn't lying when he said this was a great place full of great people...as someone that runs a website/forum, I really appreciate the work of the people (Pete and Jennie I'd imagine) that keep this ship afloat...now if I could just get over my "fish phobia"...hahaha...just kidding...

...well, I have always been a "fisherman"...born and raised in California...moved to Oregon and all of a sudden I couldn't catch no more fish...so, I eventually got into "working terriers" and that's my pride and joy on the left (a Lakeland Terrier I imported from the UK) and a "nutria" that got "worked" on the right...nutria are a big problem in the Portland area so I used to go out for them a bit...but working nutria is like catching shiners, it's not real fishing, it's "preparation" to go fishing...

Tell us about your boat if you don't mind
Where will you be launching it from or mooring it if that is the case?

Now that is cool. I always considered terriers to be a dog that I would not have any interest in. I had no idea they would kill things!! like nutria!! Maybe I should do more research... Welcome to Ifish. This is a fun place as long as you don't take anyone (including me) to seriously.

...it's a 2052 Trophy and I have no clue where I'm going to launch it...I don't even know what the options for launching are...as a matter of fact my ocean fishing experience is pretty much limited to charter boats...I have been around boats my whole life, but that's been lake and river use...I'm very confident in lakes and rivers but the ocean is completely new...I'm very excited about this new realm I'm entering, but on the other hand it scares the bejeebis out of me...I think as long as I take some coast guard classes, pay attention to what's posted here and most importantly don't do anything stupid, I should be ok...I'll be keeping the boat at home in the RV parking at my house...

...just a KC (kennel club ie "show dog") terrier is a handful to keep...if you get a terrier that has working dogs up close in it's pedigree, you will once or twice a day regret it...hehehe...mine is more then a handful and the best desrciption is a 20 lb "fuzzy" pitbull...

Someone that fishes and hunts with dogs, sound like you are in the right group. Welcome aboard, I hope you enjoy the sport and this board as much as I do. You might want to go out as a rider a couple of times before you try being a skipper.
PS I run German Wirehairs.

...that's what I was thinking about doing, upland bird hunting...the gentleman that I got my Lakeland from has a line of "Field Spaniels" that he's been using and breeding since the 60's...but getting the boat has negated that idea...nothing like watching a grade a working dog doing it's job...except maybe this tuna/halibut fishing I'm reading about...I was telling my wife I sure hope I don't forget about my dogs...

Re: Hello everyone...
...WOOOOHOOO...went and picked up the boat yesterday and I will admit when I finally got the truck next to the boat I was a bit worried about towing the boat home...hehehe...even Ron was a little concerned..."...this has a 4L V6, are you sure it will tow it?"...but I made the trip home without any problems and by the time I hit Salem, I was very comfortable with the truck/boat combination...I set the cruise control for 55 and made the trip in about 2 and a half hours...I'm a die hard Ford man, but this little Nissan has never let me down in the 3 years I've had it...the only thing that was disappointing about this whole thing was my new $1,600 gate I had made failed to meet expectations...ARGHHHHHHH...so I will spend most of today "tweaking it" so it works properly, which really bugs me since the guys that made it for me should have made sure it worked before they left...such is life...

Welcome Joe! Good place to hang and share information. Congrats on the new boat as well. If you get a chance, I'd be interested in seeing the site you run about these working terriers.
