Default Who is tempted Friday?

The boat and I will already be there for the OTC. If the forecast holds or improves I am tempted to run Friday from Newport. It's dicey, but if we're fishing Saturday we may very well run out to investigate. Anyone else tempted??? Safer in groups.

I know the weather is better next week and will also fish Sun, Wed, Friday.

.FRI...N WIND 20 TO 25 KT WITH GUSTS TO 30 KT. WIND WAVES
5 FT...BUILDING TO 7 FT IN THE AFTERNOON. NW SWELL 4 FT.

Let me think for a minute...... NOT!!!!

5-7 foot wind wave on top of a 4 ft swell. Unless they are way wrong (which happened to us a couple weeks back) then it's a no go. We have a rule that if the wind is over 15KT on the Stonewall Buoy we don't go halibut fishing and won't even think tuna. If you are going to be there or are local, look at the buoy in the AM and decide from there. I would not make the drive to the coast on this forecast however.

If you go, be safe and good luck.

I'd be nervous. The forecast is likely on the big side, but still... Are you pretty familiar with those conditions? I'm watching the stonewall banks buoy data, and it's a bit under the prediction, but the run to find tuna water is not just a quick run back.....

The wind blew all night on the beach last night and the night before. Yesterday morning was awful. It looks like the farther out you go the better it is, but you still have to cross through some pretty constant 20+ knot winds.

I wish, but with the winds -and the resultant wind waves- we're having, there's no way this wimpy old man is going.

Just looked at the sea lion caves web site here in Florence and they have had gusts up to 55 mph.....presently 36.

They are a bit off the water though........

If your boat is a ship it would be doable.

I have to agree with you all. I canceled the crew for tomorrow. I was watching the bouy as well, and for the last day or so it seemed like a poor ride but I was thinking hard about it. The wind just won't stop, it's over 20 knts again and the water is down to 53 degrees at stonewall so I guess I'll pray for Sunday.
