Default Crabbing in Waldport

I usually crab at Newport since I live in Corvallis, but a recent friend reccomended Waldport. I have not been down there for over 20 years, where does one go?? I am particularly interested in any places one can crab off a dock or pier. I do not have a boat right now so thats not an option  . Any suggestions???
Thanks!

Russ

There are crabbing docks by the boat ramp, but the crabbing that far up the bay is usually pretty poor until summer, and even then it is best at night. To get to the boat ramp, turn north on the street that runs between the hardware store and grocery store on Hw. 34.

If I were to go crabbing without boat this time of year, I would definitely be going at night from one of the crabbing docks on Yaquina Bay

I have found that the crabs are more active in shallow water at night. The piers you can crab from in Yaquina Bay are all in fairly shallow water. BTW, try to time your trip so you are crabbing through the high tide.
