Default off to SO Cal and Baja

I am off to Southern California an d as always the first thing I packed was my fishing gear. Hopefully I will get to fish Castaic and Pyrimid first, then am traveling to near the salton sea. Does anyone have any sugestions for that area? I heard the Corvina action is hot this time of year.

I don't know where either of those places are, but I have a buddy who just got back (err...three weeks ago) from about halfway down on the Pacific side, and he said they clobbered the corvina. I think he did pretty good on the cervasas, too, limiting out almost every time. The bum.

Skein- Pyramid (Lake) is in Nevada (big dang cuts). Long ways from Cabo? Where the heck is Castaic though? Salton Sea's getting closer, still in Calif/AZ though.
What part of Baja are you talking about hitting? Looking for a charter or taking a boat or?

I thought those names sounded familiar, but somehow I fixated on the Baja part. Probably overdosed from listening to my buddy go on and on and on about how much fun he had.

Uh, California? Now where the heck is that?

Mel - I think Fishauk is referring to Lake Pyramid in the mountains, near Gorman, between Bakersfield and Valencia? Castaic is near Valencia (Southern California)

Fishsauk..if you haven't left already Castaic is just starting to kick out the big largemouths they are noted for...the big swim baits and live bait are taking em as usual....

As for the Salton sea,,summer is usually the time to go...When the weather is hot so is the fishing but I think if one trolls thinfins around you can probably catch some smaller stuff (2-5 LBS)..Look for the brown water which the fish like,,not the usual green color..Sounds quite the opposite but it's true here.....

You visiting the Palm Springs area??Heck take your clubs if you golf......

Don't know about Pyramid except they use to have a great striper population..I hear Castaic has alot of nice size stripers now too..Go when they do the trout plants if possible and throw the big 12 in rainbow trout swimbaits...Good luck..........
