That's known in tanker circles as a "cross dump". Unfortunately, it's a fairly common occurrence. 95% of the time the tanker driver will realize he screwed up before he leaves the station, so at least they can shut the pumps off before a lot of damage is done. It's still pretty expensive to rectify.
One company I drove for had an incident years ago where a driver dumped 11,000 gallons of gas into the diesel tanks at the Pilot in Brooks. Since the diesel tanks were all plumbed together it contaminated all of them. I don't recall the details, but I heard they had to eat a couple of big truck engines besides the cost of pumping the tanks out.
