Albacore Anonymous Meeting
Alright my tuna-aflicted salty maties...
You wanted it, you got it. Miss B Haven (Mel) managed to reserve half of a restaurant for us!
Date: 1/17/03
Time: 6pm to
Why: Because we can get enough of tuna talk! We're not trying to recover. We're just trying to get through the "off" season!
Where: Dancing Dragon
1940 NE Cornell Rd, Hillsboro, OR
503-640-4510
Directions: From Hwy 26, exit at Shute Rd/Helvetia exit. Proceed South on Shute Rd.
Turn Right (West) on Cornell Rd. (approx. 2 mi)
Dancing Dragon will be on the left (approx. 1 mi)
Those directions sound right Mel?
Corrirod - you're gonna bring a mock-up of that shirt, right?
Everyone - Mel needs a count, so please RSVP here. (you lurkers are welcome, too... but we can't guaranty you a seat unless you log in and respond )
Bring your pictures, sample gear, stories, hearty appetites & $$ because the Dancing Dragon serves up a mighty good meal, but they don't take B.S.

Re: Albacore Anonymous Meeting
Pilar- I'm sure they have some kind of fish there, probably deep fried whole with the eyes up and still lookin at ya!
Maybe we could take over the entire Japanese restraunt in Hillsboro one of these meetings! Now there's some good fish (Tuna Sushi and Saki, yumm)! Not one of your AA meetings on a budget though.
I might try to sneak in some special snacks on the 17th if there's any left. Hmmm.... I'm hungry!

Popeye - There's several REAL close to the restraunt (it's almost next to the Hillsboro Airport and the High tech Corridor). Are you after just a good close room (Business Type) or do you want a REALLY nice room (like downtown PDX at the Alexis on the waterfront?

Re: Albacore Anonymous Meeting
Well, I guess I need to take the little woman to dinner *somewhere* that Friday night, so it might as well be the Dancing Dragon.
Add Skein and the missus.
This should be better than the first one I went to. If I remember, Pilar, Ugly Green, and I think Corrirod were actually OUT THERE while we were cloistered around the table TALKING about it. They came in late, tired, dirty, but not bloody. Maybe this time they'll be there for the whole show.
Do we wear our Mustang suits, or is casual attire okay?

I'm going to try to get it scheduled in.
2002 was my first year after halibut and I did great, but I've never been after tuna so I think that it is about time.

I've heard alot about tuna fishing and have to try it.
P.S. I'm stepping up to aa bigger boat this year.

Wow!
Do we need a clubhouse or what?
What's Depoe bay launch parking lot going to look like say July 19?
I'll bring a few of my favorite things and something that Keta put me on to. Tuna fishing may take on a whole new look next summer. Something for those fish in sub 60 degree water that are down deep and not rising to the surface to thrash the feathers and plugs.
Anyone who wants to learn to tie gear or talk fishin', look me up at the party.

Sure thing, Drifty!
MB - (gosh, I just love that name!) Perhaps we should hold our Feb meeting on the 7th! Where's your final destination? How long will you be in the area? It would be fantastic to have a visitor from far-away lands - even if those lands ARE California. (I claim ribbing rights as I'm an escapee myself  )

Re: Albacore Anonymous Meeting
PM,
I am tentatively planning to attend a stream design symposium up in Stevenson, WA from Feb 4 (Tue) thru Feb 7 (Fri-noon) and was just going to mosey my way back and take in some sites and or company along the way. Hope to do some river fishing somewhere along the way! It would be great to get together with anyone available Friday afternoon/evening.
Sincerely,
Thomas

Re: Albacore Anonymous Meeting
MB - Be sure to post when you've got your trip locked down. Perhaps we'll do an AA meeting on the 7th. Get you fishing sturgies or something.
Maybe we'll have a flat ocean and 60 degree water and we'll all go for tuna!

Jen - STOP TEASING US!
MB- just "mosey" all the way down the coast on 101. You must cross or at least get near 50 steelhead stream tween Astoria and the border. Sounds like it could take at least a month to get home! Thats not counting the 2 weeks of early season TUNA fishing Jen is arranging with Mama Natural of course! Wooohoo - that would be some El Nino!

Re: Albacore Anonymous Meeting
Will do, I have to commit next week and the extra incentive of meeting some new folks makes it even more appealing! I'll be watching the reports, I was thinking about heading down through Corvallis but sturgeon fishing sounds really good too! I will have to make sure I bring a varirty of gear just in case. I thought about bringing the DB but that would slow me down too much and not very useful by myself.

Re: Albacore Anonymous Meeting
Wow. The list is getting long, so I'm just gonna add the new RSVPs here. Mel - You'll need to add the count above to this one.
Mr. Kitch'nPass (& Mrs. Kitch'n?)
Drifty?
Keta: Nothin' firm for Feb, but if MB can make it on the 7th and you'll be up, we'll definitely plan a get-to-gether. After all, it's the hospitable thing to do, right? Shoot, if we can't get out on big blue, at least we can TALK about it.
Mel - Now, now! I bet you can handle a little teasing, can'tcha? Oh, I'm sorry. Lots of topics might be okay, but not the almighty tuna! I'll try and watch that one
Can't wait until next Friday!
Oh and if I've missed anyone, PLEASE let us know! The thread is a long one and I'm usually multitasking - which seems to be a talent that is waning these days!
PM out.

Re: Albacore Anonymous Meeting
I might have to be in Salem again in Feb
Is the 7th firm? Where is the meeting going to be at? I'll bring up extra duct tape so my mom will behave when I am at the meeting.

Re: Albacore Anonymous Meeting
Man this is the one not to miss. There is no way I can make this one although. I've been watching everyone post and it would be very nice to meet everyone. I'll try and make the next one. I fished these bullets 36 days this last summer, so I was really looking foward to swaping sea stories. When the shirts, flag are done I would like to order.............Bobber Down

Someone left a gift in my office. It is a framed picture of "Charlie Tuna". The frame has "LOVE" stamped all around the edges. SOOO cute! The guys thought they were playing a "joke" on me. But it backfired, 'cuz I love it!

Bobberdown - THIRTY SIX days? Did we have that many days that were fishable last season? Seems like many of the days we could have gone (due to schedules, etc.) weren't fishable... :depressed: Okay so I'm with envy.
Hey, pencil in Feb 7 for the next meeting. Not sure yet, but might as well save the date.
If I've missed anyone, please accept my apologies in advance and holler at me.
